Quote:
Anaconda is a 1997, adventure-horror film, directed by Luis Llosa, starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Owen Wilson, and Eric Stoltz. It centers around a film crew for National Geographic who are kidnapped by a hunter who is going after the world's largest giant anaconda, which is discovered in the Amazon Rainforest. Though a box office hit, the film was critically panned. It was followed by the sequel Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid.

A fun little action film.

Extremely, embarassingly awful.

But also extremely entertaining in a guilty pleasure kind of way (how can you not laugh hysterically at Jon Voight winking after being spit out by the anaconda?)

J. Lo and Ice Cube may as well have been cardboard here.

Terrific fun. Jon Voight chews right through the scenery in a highly memorable performance, and some inspired direction (all about the snake's stomach POV) brings it above your average monster flick.

I would agree that it's slightly above average, as far as these things go.

Not a bad film, but really far from great. The creature effects were fun, but it really didn't take the cheesiness factor of typical creature features far enough. It got somewhat mixed into trying to be a little too dramatic and failing completely.

Um, BKB, I clearly said "guilty pleasure kind of way."

Because a movie can't be awful and entertaining at the same time, I guess.

It actually was nothing great, but had an unusally good cast with Voight being very creepy.

Jon Voight really does enter the annals of chewing the scenery with this thing. A truly enjoyable piece of B movie pulp.

You liked Deep Rising? I thought that was tragically bad. :(

I love this movie. This was the third biggest hollywood hit of 1997 in India behind Titanic and The Lost World. It was dumb but man it was so fun.

Anancondas was crap. Though it made shit loads in India.
