Managing equal amounts of gore with comedy things really do go crazy in this black comedy. The acting, directing is fine but the script is the best part of this movie. It gets so good that David Arquette is funny just standing around in couple of scenes even though he turns out to be chicken in the end. Its not all very plausible and it doesn't tie everything nicely in the end. The police officers death is also not handled very well but overall this was a fun ride.

Despite a believably lived-in lead performance from Angela Bettis to work with and proficient direction from Brea Grant, 12 Hour Shift winds up leaning into moronic characters more and more until it all becomes kind of insufferable. One in particular, the cousin (by marriage) of Bettis’ main character, verges on being a cartoon representation of a person to the point I wonder how she even managed to survive into adulthood.

I'm just so tired of idiot characters like Regina and she's hardly the only moron on display. If a story requires such repeated deficiency from one character in particular to get from Point A to Point B (then Point B to C, and so on...) it just screams laziness to me.

A wasted opportunity.

I've been a fan of Bettis ever since May and it's a shame she hasn't had a better career. It was great seeing her in something again. I found this very entertaining. Didn't really want it to end as soon as it did.

This was alright, but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I thought I would after seeing those reviews from Jack Sparrow and Magic Mike. I've always liked Angela Bettis too and she was definitely the best part of this, but as good as she was I can't say that I actually cared about her character all that much. I didn't think any of the characters in this were likeable at all which kind of made it hard for me to get invested in it at first, but I was interested in seeing where it is was going and some of the side characters were amusing even if it got pretty stupid towards the end. The cousin was a complete moron though and I really wish she had atleast gotten somekind of comeuppance, because she definitely deserved it.
