I had a choice to see three new movies tonight - Brokeback Mountain, Munich, and The Ringer. The movie I picked was a breakthrough in popular awareness of an unpopular subject - I chose The Ringer...

..and you'd have to be retarded to like this movie, so dammit, count me in!

This is the most unexpectedly awesome and heartwarming Special Olympics romantic comedy I could never have imagined. It has every "retarded cliche" previously committed to film and then invents some more.

Johnny Knoxville pulls a miraculous performance out of his butt like magic, and Katherine Heigl shines as his love interest Lynn. The other main characters played by Jed Rees, Bill Chott, Edward Barbenell, Leonard Earl Howze, Geoffrey Arend, John Taylor, and Leonard Flowers give truly awesome comic performances.

If you hear anyone say this movie is insulting to people with developmental disabilities, you can bet that they are likely both close-minded and condescending, because this is the most 'tard-positive film ever made!

Future comedy classic - don't miss this one!

6 out of 5.

Hmmm while i think the movie was tastefully done and was an above average comedy, I just felt really bad bc my theatre, the biggest laughs came at all the wrong moments and it made me feel embarassed for going to see that movie.

It was funny, but never hilarious. Just a decent comedy.

The main problem with the ringer is it doesnt take advantage of its plot and doesnt try anything new. Its a predictable movie with 1 or 2 bigs laughs and a couple of chuckles here and there. As well as 60% of the movie was just lame... Not funny!

4/10 (D)

There were only a few parts of the movie were I laughed. Johnny could have done alot better. I was very disappointed at this movie.

Yeah, fairly decent comedy. I always enjoy seeing Knoxville, and Katherine Heigl is decent, but it's not a movie I'd call a classic. Better than I expected.

Grade: B

B-, Knosville plays it too straight. This film is very good-natured but would have been a lot funnier if it dared to offend.

Sadly underrated film - - and too bad that Katherine Heigl chick never amounted to anything...

She does have the distinction of having starred in 'Zyzzyx Road', though.

And considering she has been 18 years in the business and her least annoying role has been playing Seagal's daughter, she really is a waste of movie celluloid.

The Ringer

I actually chuckled at this quite a bit. Some of the comedy here is just so unpredictable (just like retards are), and Brian Cox is a hoot. I loved him in this so much. It has the typical soppy ending where he admits his faults and gets the girl, but whatever. Oh, and Katherine Heigl is a little cute sex pot in this. I guess before she become overused and too up-her-own-arse. Johnny Knoxville is perfect to play this role because he already looks like a spastic. Having said that, he was the worst thing about The Ringer. He is not funny at all and actually quite infuriating because he just acts dumb throughout.
