It was entertaining, but it could of been GREAT with some tighter editing and about 2 less musical numbers.

An absolute nightmare of a film. A true endurance test in every sense. The appalling direction, acting, and musical numbers aside, it's just plain not funny. Ever.
And calling it "a bit too long" is possibly the greatest understatement of all time.

This sums it up.
I give it a C+. I was laughing so hard at times and stabbing my eyes out at others. About as bipolar as a comedy can get.

Re: The Producers (2005)
Not sure why this one isn't hailed as a classic.
Everyone back in my high school theatre troupe from back in the mid-2000s loved this masterpiece of modern musicals. Yes it is basic, ally a carbon copy of the stage production (the most awarded stage musical of all time I might add (so at least it got praised from theatre people)) but as mentioned by snack. Who really cares. I normally never laugh out loud on my own, but this one is an exception and a reminder of why I love theatre so much.

Re: The Producers (2005)
I remember enjoying myself well enough when I saw it in theatres.

Re: The Producers (2005)
This was a wretched remake. Especially ill-advised was the decision to film it as if it were being performed onstage.

Re: The Producers (2005)
A masterpiece. It was on again. So much is great with this film that perfectly captures the magic it brought on stage to become the most critically awarded stage musical of all time.
