Quote:
Shanghai Noon is a 2000 American martial arts action comedy western film starring Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson. The film, marking the directorial debut of Tom Dey, was written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

The film, set in Nevada and other parts of the American West in the 19th century, is a juxtaposition of a western with a kung fu action film with extended martial arts sequences. It also has elements of comedy and the "Buddy Cop" film genre, as it involves two men of different personalities and ethnicities (a Chinese imperial guard and a Western outlaw) who team up to stop a crime. It was partially filmed in the Canadian Badlands, near Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. A sequel, Shanghai Knights, was released in 2003.

Fun stuff, though nothing special. B-

Very funny, with a good sense of the Western archetypes it's paying homage to. Really, really enjoyable.

A fairly entertaining Jackie Chan flick. It's slightly worse than Rush Hour because it lacks a bit more in the action department and the pacing is a bit off at times, but overall it's throughly entertaining with some really funny moments. The best thing about the movie is of course the buddy pairing of Chan and Wilson. Amazingly rewatchable, just like Rush Hour.

It's fun and exciting, though Owen Wilson, as usual, nearly ruins the whole thing.

Shanghai Noon

It's a great wild west movie. Back in 2000 when I saw this in the cinema, I was rooting very much for Jackie Chan, but since then I've become to love Owen Wilson, so this movie now is like a comedic-action masterpiece for me. I adore it. Very funny, the action is not great but it's all fun and entertaining. I don't remember the sequel being memorable, though.

I love the use of "La Grange" by ZZ Top and "Cowboy" by Kid Rock. Great cowboy movie songs. I love how Jackie Chan's name, Chong Wang, sounds like John Wayne, and Owen Wilson's real name is Wyatt Earp. :funny:
