Throttle (also known as No Way Up) is a 2005 American thriller film starring Grayson McCouch. Other cast members include Adrian Paul and Amy Locane. It was filmed entirely in Denver, Colorado. It has several hidden references to a similar movie, Steven Spielberg's Duel. Its tagline is: Park at your own risk, or Park and die!.

I've been seeing quite a couple of DTV flicks lately and this one was actually one of the better. Which means that it was watchable and not actually completely terrible. The movie is a total and absolute rip-off of Steven Spielberg's Duel, but since it makes itself too ovbvious as a rip-off, it can almost be considered a homage. Even though not a great one. The plot is basically that a financial analyst that has just finished some not so legal late night deal is being locked down in a huge underground parking garage and some truck driver is trying to kill him. But before that he plays around with him like cat/mouse and kills all the other people that come across his way. The villain is not shown until the end and that trick works well, even though it has been used in Duel and Joy Ride as well as in other better films before.

The production values are decent, but there was not much to spend on, since the ENTIRE movie is located in that underground garage. Thanks to this confined setting which manages to come over as menacing the movie gains on suspense. There are no clever plot twists and the villain is predictable 30 minutes into the movie, so you are not really surprised about the final revelation. What is really really stupid, however, are the villain's motives. I just had to roll my eyes.

There are plentifull of useless, needless and often confusing flashbacks in this movie to the hero's personal life and his marriage crisis. This all appears pretty pointless in what is otherwise a decent thriller and it hurt the overall picture. Thankfully the movie is under 90 minutes long, so it can keep up the suspense throughout most parts of the movie. It is not a great flick, but it is an okay time-waster if you really are bored.
