Re: American Hustle So I went with friends last night to see this again and liked it more on the second viewing. A lot makes more sense with another watch, and I was equally impressed by everyone, especially Louis CK. I'd pay good money for a spinoff film with him and Bradley Cooper.
I don't think it will ever achieve a Classic status though.

Re: American Hustle Saw this Saturday. The best parts of the movie involve JLaw. Easily. She's hilarious.
Also, Louis CK.
Great performances all around, but slowly paced. But I very much liked it.

Really entertaining. I thought it got off to a bit of a shaky start but once it found its footing it worked. I suppose my biggest issue is that this is clearly trying to be Scorsese, but whereas his films always have the feeling that something really bad is going to happen to someone (and could at any time), I never had any doubt that everything here would work out pretty well.

Re: American Hustle It takes a little while for it to find its groove but once it does it is pretty great. Really out of the main five the only poor performance was from Lawrence (yeah yeah hate me). Her character is fairly useless and she doesn't give a performance worthy of her character needing to be in the film. Plus, the accent she went with was not good at all. Outside of that, everyone is near the top of their game here. I can't decide whether Bale or Cooper was my favorite here. Louis CK is also aces. The film has its thrills and is funnier than I thought it would be. It won't be in my top 10 of the year but it's another stronger outing for O. Russell though this definitely comes in below Silver Linings and is a bit stronger than The Fighter.
