Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Anyone cares to explain where was the little wheelie after they transfer to Egypt?
No one?
Oh so the script writer just throw away the character when not needed? That easy?
And Megan Fox actually looks more 'plastic'.
btw, I'm watching the first one.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I fail to see how the action here was good. It was impossible to determine what was happening in any of the robot fights. Extreme closeups of massive robots tumbling around made the scenes incomprehensible. I could not tell which bots won their fights until the camera pulled back to reveal a bot still standing.

So it's the movie's fault you can't pay attention?
Everyone in my audience had no such problems.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
It has nothing to do with paying attention. The fight scenes were ill-conceived due to the camera perspective. It was purposefully jarring. If you were able to decipher what was occurring in those scenes (not to mention taking a poll of the audience you were with) than you're a greater man than.
Perhaps some of the red streaks from Optimas Prime's shell contrasted with the dull grays of the Decepticons was your only visual clue. That still gives no indication of what is occurring in the brawl, just who the opponents are.
I did think the forest fight was good. Mainly because the camera was mostly from Shia's perspective so that we could tell what was happening.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
That's a silly criticism, even coming from a non-fan like me. It's definitely done on purpose to keep the sfx shots looking great which I think is the better way to go than having full shots (which came close during the fight scenes in the forest).

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I actually found myself reasonably entertained by the first 90 minutes, then it just spins its wheels for an hour. The robot fighting is still really boring (save Optimus vs. Decepticons), and the stupid humor is just embarrassing. Still, I guess it's a little more focused than the original (no hacker/Jon Voight/Anthony Anderson subplot! Yay!), so that's something.
C+, I think. I'd kill for these films to be an hour shorter, they're padded beyond belief.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
On a shallow note, even though Shia LaBeouf wasn't really given much of an opportunity to be funny in this film, this was the first time I've noticed that he's actually pretty attractive? That seems like it happened out of nowhere.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Loved it. Perfect popcorn blockbuster and like in the first film Bay knows the humor and maintaining a light/goofy/popcorn mood is essential. I thought both the humor and the action was ramped up big time from the first film. The plot and development was a little worse, but with the history of these types of sequels, it delivers.
Only concern is that Megatron is definitely defanged and lame'd out here. He really didn't even need to be in this movie, you could take all his lines and give them to one of the other Decepticons and lose nothing.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I enjoyed it immensely. Way dumber and louder than the first but a worthy time-waster.
The Fallen was lame though. The worst main villain I can think of and yet Megatron was willing to be his lackey? I hope with the third film we get a power struggle - Starscream vs. Megatron, finally!

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Yeah I hated how they made Starscream from being so cool to being a wimp.
I give it a B-
This is prehaps the first film I have seen with two much action. Comedy was good and WOM is good. A fun film but not good.
It was crazy and my head hurt in the end but WOW it was cool

The sad aspect is that Munky isn't even close to the worse. On here perhaps he is one of them, but in real life I know many that are far more ignorant and idiotic, and that is an extremely sad statement.

My god..
I can't believe that those who enjoyed the first one will actually like this one. It destroys everything I loved about the first one. Mom went nuts. Less of BBB. Bad humor.
Go watch the first film again, people. You'll see what I'm talking about.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
That is the first one. "Mama don't like nobody on her carpet - especially the po-lice!" It's the exact same kind of humor in this one. I'm really at a loss when it comes to people claiming one is significantly better than the other. Tonally, they're the same. Humor-wise, they're the same. The only difference is that Revenge of the Fallen forces its dumb jokes on a single group of characters, whereas the first introduced annoying side people every three minutes. So instead of hackers, embarrassing Jon Voight, and annoying Anthony Anderson, it's just Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, and Josh Duhamel.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
From the first one..
- Sam's happy time
- All BBB songs; Who's Gonna Drive You Home, Tonight? / Baby came back
- Scene with the international operator
- Bernie Mac
What do I get from ROTF?
- The dogs making-out's joke
- Mom on drug's joke
Ok, yes it might be the exact same kind of humor, I don't know. But it worked in the first one, and kind of memorable too. I couldn't say that to any of the 'humor' in ROTF. Those two examples I've mentioned above were just dreadful, not funny.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I don't think it worked in the first one at all. The only gag I enjoyed was the car trying to woo Michaela back, and they pull the same gag this time when the Terminatrix is in the car.
There's a stupid dog joke in the first movie. There are stupid parent gags in the first movie. They're doing exactly the same things. And druggie mom was silly, but "He just lost his cherry - he didn't know I was there and I heard the whole thing!" is a funnier line than anything in the original.
Also, Bernie Mac in the first? Not funny. At all.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
It's hit and miss in both. The first one, I thought Bernie Mac was actually hilarious (I forgot his exact lines, but I remember cracking up), as well as "Sam's Happy Time" and that whole sequence.
In this, the mom on drugs is a little overdone (especially when she tackles the kid and stuff), but the line where she's like "Pretty girls, my son lives in that building" and stuff was hilarious. Other random moments are pretty funny too.

I laughed once during the first. I laughed, I think, five times during the second. And I think the second one is slightly less boring. Hence, I like the second more.
