I still havent seen this though. By the time you made it to your second guess, this thread already reached 3 pages in which case, you could simply read the SPOILER beforehand..

 Re: Orphan
If you have a chance trust me and go see it in theaters. I'm glad I didn't listen to the negative early hype before it came out and went to see it opening night anyway. Currently it's like the best movie of the year . And you anticipate all of this other crap like Sorority Row (admittedly I haven't seen it, but it's not going to be better than Orphan, not by a long shot).

Even moreso than Paranormal Activity???

 Re: Orphan
I said it is currently . Obviously it will change. And I haven't seen Paranormal Activity yet so I wouldn't know.

 Re: Orphan
Loved it!, great twist ending even though I half way figured it out midway through the movie.

 Re: Orphan
A terrible film is what Orphan is. The events that Esther partakes in at first do match the usual horror film but it later just turns into a fight between mother and daughter with way too much screaming and a loss of plot completely. The big reveal didn't really do much either and actually brought the film down more especially in a very awkward scene between Esther and John. Another very poor horror film in general. 1/2*

 Re: Orphan
i found this movie quite disappointing, coming from the director of the handsomely mounted, almost good "house of wax". this movie doesn't take any risks and plays everything safe, there is not a single nasty scene to be found here. remember the scene in "the other" from 1972 where this film's evil child drowns a baby in a pickle barrel? this was shocking as hell, and that movie was rated pg, whereas orphan does absolutely nothing with its r-rating liberties except for a few f-bombs and a bloody stabbing. the alcoholism/parental guilt aspects concerning the mother served no purpose at all and made the film 30 minutes too long. still, the slick production values make it barely watchable - i'd give it a C-.

 Re: Orphan
This is, no joke, probably one of the most entertaining horror movies released in the past 15 years. I remember being so against it before it came out and then having such a blast when I saw it. It deserves to be a classic of the genre. Vera Farmiga and Isabelle Fuhrmann are terrific. A-/A
