 Re: The Batman
Finally got around to 2nd viewing. A very good film that was 1 script draft away from being an all-time classic.
The 2nd half exposition dump is ridiculous. Selina just happens to meet Batman that week who happens to be the daughter of Falcone - who also murdered her Mother and girlfriend - who happened to be the person responsible for killing the parents of Bruce Wayne who happens to be Batman! Easy to see what they were trying to do. Film needed to be shorter with more action and much more build-up to Riddler's "Day of judgement" final plan so the ending didn't feel so tacked on.
In hindsight, they needed to remove one of the subplots, probably best would have been "Falcone is Selina's Father/Mother's murderer". They should have simply looped Falcone into Selina's orbit as the man who murdered her girlfriend.

 Re: The Batman
I liked it. In a way it feels weird to see another Batman again, but I like Pattison in this, both as Bruce and as Batman. The first 2 hours are pretty great actually, I love the Gotham world building, the dark and rainy setting, it's really well shot throughout and the score is mostly good too. But that final 3rd, things kind of fall apart there. Things get dragged out and subplots are dived into that just needn't. Farrell is definitely great as the Penguin too, but I was not so much a fan of the rest of the supporting cast's portrayals. And while the film misfires on the melo-dramatic side, it does have some cool action and for most of the film I loved being part of the world. If they had made this less bloated and neater in execution it could have been great, but instead it (still) settles as pretty good and I wouldn't mind revisiting it.

Saw this again in Dolby last night. So good. Wish the sequel was coming soon. Not that excited for the Penguin but will certainly check it out.

Still haven’t seen this yet, guess I was waiting to see flash first. Might have to finally catch it.
