 Re: Hacksaw Ridge
Mel Gibson takes a generic war movie and turns it into a generic anti-war movie. Kind of disappointing, but it is the exact movie the corny trailers promised and I can't get mad at that. Its very well made though, the romance is cute and it never loses sight of its message through the extravagant battle scenes.
However, I do have to say that this movie winning Best Editing is a bigger travesty than Moonlight winning BP. This movie felt looooooong. I was exhausted before they even hit Japan.
The 20 minute stretch where he is saving people on the Ridge is terrific though. That alone makes it worth watching.

 Re: Hacksaw Ridge
I loved this movie and it was one of the best movie going experiences of last year. It has its flaws but overall a very heartbreaking tale of war and its deadly display of corpse in full force with a kind hearted man trying to save people between the war. The war scenes were just great here. Garfield is superb here and Gibson does a great job as well.

 Re: Hacksaw Ridge
One of the few really good Christian films. Excellent character work. Teresa Palmer was unrecognizable and gorgeous as a redhead. And Andrew Garfield was great too. I enjoyed the first half more, but the whole thing was engaging.
