 Re: Kick-Ass 2
I thought Donald Faison was great too. Mostly cause dressing up like a superhero and being really enthusiastic about it is something Turk would do.

 Re: Kick-Ass 2
Man this was such a mess. I understand that expectations should be kept in check since MV isn't directing, but seriously this was borderline mediocre almost terrible.
The only highlights for me are Jim Carrey and Mother Russia. I also liked some of the action bits, but nothing in this comes anywhere close to the badassery and awesomeness of the first movie.
This could have honestly passed for a DTV flick IMO.

I thought it was a lot of fun. Enjoyed it just as much as the first. I wish it had performed better at the Box Office because I'd love a third.

 Re: Kick-Ass 2
Rushed, underdeveloped, looks cheap (the truck fight on the highway is fucking terrible) and worst of all, boring. It's a huge step down from the first one. (C-)

 Re: Kick-Ass 2
Oh and what the fuck got into Carrey? His character makes it a code to never fire his gun, let alone ever have it loaded (which was a unique idea), and he goes off on a tear against the movie right before it comes out?
Maybe he knew it was a piece of shit and just gave the gun thing as an excuse for not wanting to promote it?

Kick-Ass 2
I regard the first Kick-Ass as one of the best comicbook movies made. This follow-up is severely lacking in all departments. Noticeably missing from the crew is Matthew Vaughn. He wrote and directed the first, but now we have Jeff Wadlow filling both roles. This guy is a hack. The film is pretty shit and actually really boring. This has got to be one of the worst sequels in recent memory. Nothing is escalated, there is no build up, it's more like a TV series than a film, and the enemy is a fucking joke (not in a good way). The film is a mess.

In stark contrast to; Kick-Ass which I gave an A to. I'm just going to act liek this sequel never got made.

David wrote: Does the last shot indicate Dave is going to build a more high-tech, robotic Kick-Ass suit? I couldn't study the drawing long enough. The last shot is of Chris D'Amico in hospital with his legs bitten off, which would imply that a third movie will get ridiculously cartoonish. But the penultimate shot of Dave with his Iron Man helmet does indicate that Kick-Ass will be a serious superhero, not a part-time vigilante that needs to get back before his bedtime and still do his homework.

B Agree with this. I liked it more than I expected to after reading reviews.

 Re: Kick-Ass 2
I just finished watching it for the second time and I liked it even more, for me it's on par with the first film, action and violence scenes were very fun to watch, except the truck race which looked fake. Hit Girl steals the show as expected, she is awesome I'm rooting for a third movie B+PS: Not sure if everyone here caught the after credits scene

 Re: Kick-Ass 2
Finally watched both of these movies. I loved the first and liked the second. David hits the nail on the head that everything feels fresh and exciting in the first, but it comes across as chewed meat this time around. I give them credit for going to different places, but it only works half the time. The Hit Girl stuff in high school was pretty bad, only made worse by the "sick stick". And Colonel Stars and Stripes should have been an awesome character but it feels like its only purpose was "Hey, it's Jim Carrey!" and that was the sell.
Some stuff works really well though. I like the side characters created for both the heroes and villains. I was glad things were (mostly) wrapped up by film's end, despite the post-credit scene, since a third film is highly unlikely, not necessarily due to the box office performance but the major drop in critic and audience response as well. I think that hurt way more.
