 Re: The Master
Yeah, didn't get it... Don't get why it was technically amazing either, personally. Sure, it was a very deep and profound film like Tree of Life and had a beyond spectacular performances like The Iron Lady, but like both those films, wasn't a huge fan of the film overall. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood when I saw it :/

 Re: The Master
Haven't seen The Master or Sydney...
1. There Will Be Blood 2. Boogie Nights 3. Punch Drunk Love 4. Magnolia
Each is at least good, though...

 Re: The Master
Joaquin Phoenix did an amazing job trolling the movie though. Gotta respect that
worst performance ever?

If only I could care about Freddie... Perhaps a modern Night of the Hunter.

My friend and I literally laughed out loud when we saw her in that scene. That show is good and I only watched it due to the .gif. I wish season 2 was on Netflix.

 Re: The Master
I think I'd like to see this again. Not any time soon but maybe when I revisit all of Anderson's flicks. My viewing of this was ruined by a couple of assholes talking throughout the whole thing.
Right now I'd say; Magnolia > There Will Be Blood > Boogie Nights > Punch-Drunk Love >>>>> The Master

 Re: The Master
For the most part I found it to be an interesting film. I couldn't really stand the main character but Joaquin Phoenix was great. I think this might be the most impressed I've been by Philip Seymour Hoffman. He's electrifying here. Amy Adams doesn't have a lot to do but I definitely enjoyed her more low-key performance.
The film really shines on a technical level. The cinematography is gorgeous and the score is great as well.
I didn't really think it was as deep as it was trying to be and it's my least favorite of the Paul Thomas Anderson films I've seen, but it's still good. For me it's mostly worth watching for the performances and cinematography. I completely understand how someone could hate this film though. It's definitely not for everyone.
7/10 ( B )

 Re: The Master
Very intense film that strives off PSH and Joaquin's fantastic performances. The standout scene for me may have been the prison scene. Just a great contrast of characteristics at play there. Can't wait to revisit this.
