Eh, everything I heard about the second Paranormal Activity suggested it was just more of the same from the first one, which I found to be fun but overhyped. This one sounds more fun, and being a prequel I figured I could 'get it' without whatever is in the second film. Is there dense mythology that would somehow make this entry confusing?

Unless you really like keeping up with stuff like that then no.

Just go see it with a large audience and enjoy the atmosphere and getting jumpy for 90 minutes.

Question: Is seeing the second Paranormal Activity in any way a prerequisite to seeing this one?

It's not totally necessary, but you might be a little thrown. PA3's dealing with a lot of stuff PA2 introduced.

F

Not Scary at all, same old shit as the past two.

besides all of the stupid things that happened the things that bothered me the most were definitely the Flt screen they had (it's 1988 for god's sake) and the Cameras' had waaaay too good Q. for 1988, not even Blair Witch Project had cameras this good and it is supposed to be 11 years after this.

Just one big piece of shit like the previous two, thank god I didn't pay to see this.

You would of preferred seeing the movie in the quality of a camera of 1988? I don't think so.

You are just being incredibly bias. :glare:

There's a line where we said we wanted to be 100% authentic, but we couldn't say that because of what we shot on. It's a movie, so we wanted to save everyone the headache – and the eye ache – of shooting on an actual '80s camera and leave the authenticity of the decade to the characters, the production design and the wardrobe."

At least that issue was addressed

If you hated the first two, why would you see the third one?

I don't remember a flat screen TV. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed one. Stop trying to make up stuff to justify your ridiculous hate :P. None of the inaccuracies in the Saw series bothered you ;).

Did Toby drag you? Haha... ha... dammit, eleven months too late.

I finally watched PA3 today after re-viewing the first two. Really enjoyed this, definitely more than 2. I like that they're tying everything together and that they were even able to make this prequel-ish movie.

Also liked the non-scary scenes more than any of the first two. And it didn't take 45 minutes to really start, like 2. But a few of the scare scenes were a bit too much? I liked the subtle stuff from 1 (like Katie standing over Micah, which was duplicated here kind of), and some of the stuff, especially at the climax, was verging on falling into horror cliches. But I guess it needed to in order to evolve and not feel like a cheap sequel for the actual fans of the franchise.

PA1: ***1/2
PA2: **1/2 (* for first half; ***1/2 for second half)
PA3: ***
