Anyone think that Jen was basically playing her Friends role from later seasons - when she was alittle more confident and sarcastit.

In other words, any character she's ever played since the later seasons of Friends?

Nope, this was one of the closest....especially it was one that had no action in the movie.

She just played the Friends role.

As jmart correctly said, the same thing she has done since the show expired.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

Actually since the show expired, she's really only done a lifeless version of Rachel in her movies. Her performance in this actually had more energy.

Yup, this one was Rachel!

Glad someone caught it.

Everyone has been saying that since Friends ended, she's still been playing Rachel in her movies. What grill and I were saying is that, up until Just Go With It, she's played just a lifeless version of it in most of her movies since, hence they weren't really Rachel because Rachel was a more lively character and Aniston gave a more lively performance. Compare her performance in this to her other recent ones and you'll see that it's livelier in this than the rest of them.

I agree. Other than Marley & Me, this was the most spirited and alive Aniston has seemed in a film since Friends ended (although I did think she was quite good in The Break-Up and Friends with Money). I liked this movie on its own terms but she was the best thing about it.

Marley & Me was more of a dramatic performance and character from Aniston, though, IMO. It wasn't really a role that showcased her comedic chops, which is the kind of roles she should be getting more of. Even if a good number of people didn't like the movie, we should be seeing more performances like this from her. Even a good number of critics who didn't like the movie were fond of her performance.

My mom mentioned The Break-Up and Friends with Money as performances where she didn't really put forth the effort and she shares our opinions regarding her performance in this.

I found JGWI to be very enjoyable and easy to watch. Really enjoyed all the actors, and they definitely made the movie.

It was tough to overlook the nonsensical plot at times. For example, what was Sandler's endgame after he married this girl? She wasn't ever going to find out that Aniston was his assistant in his office? His kids were just going to disappear or die (a fake funeral)? She wouldn't eventually notice that he really didn't ever have kids and an ex wife - no old pics, no kids items at home, etc...? I could go on... but, in the end I was able to get past the stupid plot and the fact it was very formulaic and predictable simply because the actors and feel of the movie were just that likable. I just couldn't stay mad at the movie.

A-/B+

Just Go With It

I enjoyed this. It's a funny film, and that's all you can hope for from an Adam Sandler rom-com, it isn't going to be inventive or logical. Jennifer Aniston must get bored playing these roles, I mean, seriously, she's the go-to girl. She differentiated a little bit with Horrible Bosses, which was a relief, but she still pretty much plays the same role and has done for over 10 years now. But I liked it. I never thought Sandler was funny, but he was alright in this - he kept uttering little things to himself and it was humourous. The pretend Dolph Lundgren was funny (part with the sheep had me giggling). Personally, I've have chosen Brooklyn Decker over Aniston, but this is film world. I noticed how Decker didn't once kiss Sandler because Andy Roddick is such a jealous husband. I thought the ending was soppy as fuck and everybody lived happily ever after, way too corny.
