 Re: Transporter 3
Woah guys... I am seeing the light through all of this. Thank you Night Owl, i did not take that offensively. Makeshift, i completely agree with you. I wrote this review 4 days after i saw the movie and was just throwing shit out there. I just didn't understand why my editors were being such jackasses and said that they won't publish it and said i need to change my writing style. Mahone, thanks for backing me up, but i have heard much worse, so Night Owl's comments did not offend me. I still need more perspectives people!

 Re: Transporter 3
Just from skimming some of your reviews in that link you provided, I'd say you spend way too much time addressing the plot and setting up the actual review. By the time we are at the end of your writing, we've really only gotten two paragraphs of actual substance. A general rule I've always tried to follow is your plot synopsis/set up shouldn't be more than two paragraphs, and could probably almost always be trimmed into one by a shrewd editor.
But yeah, I think the fact that your writing has "gotten consistently worse" (according to your editors) probably has more to do with the fact that theatrical releases have been largely terrible since late August.

I would leave out the "kicks ass" and other slang of the type, for a published review it just sounds a bit too 7th grade at the multiplex-ish.

Yeah, what i generally try to do is do a plot synopsis in two paragraphs and then either a general idea that connects this movie to other movies or a ramble about the unique characteristics of the plot. All of this is probably a good thing for me, like a wake-up call to write better. I talk to the editor-in-chief and my Arts & Entertainment editor on Tuesday, so i hope they have some good criticism for me like you guys have given!

16 out of 5. Umm close but not quite. Transporter was really good. Transporter 2 was not so good. Transporter 3 is wtf? Even if you take out the girl, who should never have been anywhere near this in the first place, the film is nothing more than an over produced Audi commercial. 5 out of 100

OMG yes the girl was so annoying. BTW, grade lowered to a C-. Might go even lower, I'm being way too nice here.

 Re: Transporter 3
It felt very lazy and by the numbers to be honest.
I mean say what you like about the absurd nature of Transporter 2 but at least it was trying, this is like a half arsed Cannonball Run through Eastern Europe with the action copy and pasted from the first Transporter and fed some sleeping pills.
And the girl.......MY EARS! She was like a female Borat in the way she talked.

 Re: Transporter 3
TRANSPORTER 3 - 7/10 (B-)
I didn't expect to like this movie. Despite finding the previous "Transporter" movies very entertaining, this new installment didn't seem like a "Transporter" flick from the previews. Maybe it's because Lionsgate released this one instead of Fox (who released the previous two). Also, during the times the first two were released I dug Statham quite a bit. But since the appalling "Crank" I haven't been a fan. I've grown tired of him and the fact that he constantly plays the same kind of character doesn't help.
But despite my pre-conceived notions, there was still a good amount of fun to be had in this third entry in the series. And I also really liked Statham in it. His character continues to be pretty badass, and I am thankful he was able to take his shirt off on more than one occasion during it. I was long over him, but damn if he wasn't hot here. My only real problem is Natalya Rudakova. She is absolutely HORRIBLE! Her character is supposed to come off as sexy, but she is so grating and repulsive. I wanted her to die.
Anyway, while not as good as the other two, it was still much more enjoyable than I was expecting. I'd be game for another.

 Re: Transporter 3
C+
I like the Transporter series as some really mindless action entertainment with solid car chase scenes. While I think that the first film is slightly overrated, the second one, in all its glorious over-the-top fashion is quite enjoyable. Jason Statham is simply perfect for a role like Frank Martin.
That said, Transporter 3 is clearly below the standards of the first two films. We still get solid pieces of Statham action, but the car chases are not nearly as exciting as in the first two films and while it does keep the ridiculousness of the second movie, the action is just not as entertaining this time around. Moreover, I really really disliked the female lead. She was just annoying as hell. And then the whole idea of Frank Martin being tied to the car because of some bomb that'd go off otherwise...yeah, kinda retarded. There are also a lot of attempts at humor that simply don't work.
On the upside, Statham kicks ass again and Robert Knepper is an expectantly entertaining villain to watch. It's is one of Statham's lesser actioners, though. I still wouldn't mind seeing another one.
