Post Re: Being John Malkovich
I'll cut the hyberbole and say it's one of the most ingenius, hilarious, and best films I've seen... EVAR. I had a similar reaction as I had when I first watched Eternal Sunshine. Which is good, that's now in my top 10 of all time.

I didn't think it was overly bizarre or off-putting at all... I was actually surprised that despite the insane premise, it all worked and I found myself believing the story. It could've gone into full dementia mode, but it didn't. It just kept the laughs going.

Keener, Malkovich, Cusack, and Diaz(who knew she had that in her) give awesome performances. The writing, no comment. I also loved the puppet scenes, some of it was creepy but always pretty interesting. And I liked the vessell and baby complications, the movie never went off the rails there.

Hell yeah

5/5

Absolutely loved how darkly absurd this world is, even before they find the portal to someone's brain and start questioning the meaning of individualism. Loved how no matter how ridiculous the plot got, the characters always took it seriously, never once even hinting that they knew they were in a comedy. Excellent performances by all four of the main cast, the writers, the direction, everything worked.
