It is directed by musician and puppeteer Liam Lynch. All three of them are also listed as the writers of the film. The film was released on November 22, 2006. Although publicity for the film included the tagline "The Greatest Motion Picture of All Time", the film was a box-office bomb; since then, the film has garnered a cult following.

It's barely a movie. I have no problems with barely a movie movies (Jay and Silent Bob comes to mind). But TD is just, kinda lame.

I love the D too, but this was depressingly bad.

Well, it wasn't Spinal Tap or Blues Brothers, but it was an enjoyable film that held my interest. Some good songs, neat cameos, and some very funny moments.
Unfortunately, it does have its missteps too... at times you get the feeling they are just trying way too hard to make a cult movie instead of letting it happen. Also, it borrows heavily from other rock movies that proceeded it, instead of forging a new path.
All in all, I'd give it a B.
