It is too much at times and glossed over a lot of plot holes but it also expands the story by respecting all past movies. The finale invokes the best memories of the first Avengers and the fight delivers. The stories are tied out as best as they can and YES a few people do die. It's emotional, brilliant and definitely worthy of the praise.

There were some cheesy moments (girl power!), Captain Marvel was a complete snore, and there were a few plot holes (if time travel leads to divergent timelines, how did Old Steve show up?) but overall I thought it was absolutely fantastic. Just a highly emotional, very satisfactory epic conclusion to a story that started 11 years ago.

Not good. Aside from plot holes, which aren't a big deal when it comes to this genre, the movie feels cold right when it's supposed to show some soul. The whole time travel stuff is too linear, there's no adventure but just celebration of the past. The way they evolved Thor and Asgard is embarassing and worth a place in jail. Gamora...bah. No chemistry among the good old trio - at the end, not even some final greeting, like they didn't even know each other. Of course, there are some good moments, and the final battle is pretty epic, but the level of tension experienced in IW is nowhere to be seen here. There's also some other stuff but I don't feel like writing anymore.

C- (5.5/10). And to think I gave IW a full A.

It's odd but...I feel like RDJ Stark & Evans Captain America are probably both in the top 20 / 25 on screen hero ever.

There is going to be a big gap in cinema knowing they have no more movies to come (or do they?).

Fucking nuts that Marvel made a much better Justice League series than WB did by swapping Bats with Iron Man, Superman with Captain America, Joker with Loki and Luther with Thanos.

Really just fucking amazing.

It's very good due to the superb final act. Very well executed. Though on a whole I'd say Infinity War is the better film.

A number of great or interesting or puzzling scenes so plenty to discuss.

Some of the Thor scenes were funny but I agree with Omni - I don't like what they've done to Thor (since Ragnarok actually).

However, as hinted in Excels post this has to be the peak of the MCU - can't see them matching the magic of this saga - mainly due to the characters that are no longer around.

I wish I had kept my 1045 tickets. Would watch it again right now.

The only disappointment was the lack of goose.

And the end credits are pretty cool. Really brings home how the impact these characters and the actors playing them have made on pop culture this past decade.

God did that ending destroy me. I was trying really hard to keep it together, but at the end I just lost it. Such a beautiful and perfect way to end the saga for some of these characters IMO. I had some issues with the movie overall, but the last hour is truly fucking epic and emotional as hell. I still prefer IW for now, but I definitely need to see it more times to make a final judgement. I do wish they did more with Thor and Hulk action wise though.

B+

A+

They stuck the landing. Closed the Infinity Saga book nicely & left plenty of room for future adventures.
God damn this got me so emotional. That last hour was just comic book goodness come to life. Seeing it again tonight and throughout the weekend.

Spoiler: show
Either a prequel, or time travel shenanigans? They have the means to travel through time, and they can bring older versions of people forward. That's what happened to Gamora, so I don't know why they couldn't just do that with anyone now.

Yep I'm liking the setup for Guardians 3 as well, but I am also hoping Gunn is really able to handle
Spoiler: show
Thor when it comes to the action, because he really needs his shine again after Ragnarok and IW.

Great to see you back too Magnus.

What do people think the odds are that

Spoiler: show
Stark stays dead? The idea of killing him just to leave his daughter Fatherless and his wife a single Mom is a ridiculous ending for his character IMO

Marvel has made children movies that were terrified of killing anyone & made mass-murdering villains become instant buddies w/ Loki and Bucky.

Regardless it is shocking they
Spoiler: show
kill by far the most popular character

Winter Soldier is probably a better film than this but I think the sheer scope of the film and how many beats it hits makes this pretty much the pinnacle of the MCU. All the time sequences were amazing.

I said this during the Infinity War thread, but this one death is more impactful to the franchise than the trillions who were killed by Thanos. Anything less would have felt cheap.

Honestly one more person should've died from the final fight.

Besides Thanos fighting the main trio the final battle was kinda eh to me.

Post Re: Avengers: Endgame
I didn't think Endgame could live up to the ridiculous hype that it was riding going into last night's opening, but was I wrong. I left the my showing somewhat sad knowing that this cinematic achievement will not likely be done again. Like others have said I couldn't think of a better ending to this franchise. Captain America and Iron Man are the true stars of this movie. I am not a "cryer" by any means but I was left teary eyed by the final screen shot. The Russo brothers took us on a 3 hour nostalgia tour the marvel cinematic universe with one epic battle to end all battles (until Game of Thrones finale that is). There is one scene in particular involving CA that got a bigger reaction than when the lightsaber flew past Kylo Ren into Rey's hands.

A true masterpiece.
