 Re: Gina
It's more of an interesting experiment than an actual movie, but it's entertaining enough. The characters are charming and the story is solid, but it slows to a halt when Arcand chooses to film the entirety of a pool match, seemingly to show off his technical prowess. It's an enjoyable enough sequence, but it does very little of anything and it's filmed pretty blandly. Furthermore, the side story of the filmmakers - Arcand's subtle tirade against the NFB - is a lot more interesting than the main plot, which rapidly progresses from strip show to gang rape to ridiculously over-the-top action climax, which - aside from being a ton of fun - doesn't really amount to anything. Still, it's a nice slice of feminist revenge three decades before Tarantino did the same thing with Kill Bill and Death Proof, complete with some surprisingly graphic gore. So while the film may be somewhat of a failed experiment, it's still a fairly entertaining one, and you can do a lot worse, especially when it comes to 1970s Quebec film.
