Re: Disney+ announcements (theater and premiere access relea
Welp. Black Widow moves to July 9th, Disney+ Premiere Access and theaters. They should've just released it May if they're doing premiere access... Cruella doing the same but keeping its release date.
And they announced Luca for Disney+ for free like Soul. Why they're doing this to Pixar lol

Jesus. I understand the premiere access thing but keep it in May then!
Plus way more people would pay for Luca than Cruella.

My only guess is they hope Shang Chi can be a theatrical exclusive and they don’t want to push it without a film to take its spot.

Re: Disney+ announcements (theater and premiere access relea
Disney has made it clear recently, and especially now, that they're going all-in on the streaming route versus theatrical route, at least for the next full year or two. And honestly, it's probably better financially for them to limit or avoid theaters, and this could end up being a more "forever" strategy for them given how successful Disney+ has become.
They're nearing 100 million subscriptions (may even be there now). Using that number as the current base, they just need a very small percentage of them to buy the premiere access for their smaller releases to make a profit, and just 10% (even less, really) of subscribers doing the same for their $200 million productions to make that up with ease and then some.
And they're expecting 230 million to 260 million subscriptions in the next 3 years.

Understandable. Sucks gotta wait an additional 2 months for Shang-Chi This would hurt more if we DIDN'T have D+ (Wandavision, F&WS, Loki...) to pass the time. all hail Disney+

Interesting, but smart move. The series are leading into each other building a following, and Loki will end and BW will premiere. I’m sure Hawkeye will probably do the same with the 10 rings

It's hilarious Disney announces this the same day as Regal slowly reopening lol
Looking at the schedule looks like reopening my A-List may be a mistake ugh

Why is no one banning/blaming Disney? It makes sense financially but still with theaters opening they should try to give it a chance.

Re: Disney+ announcements (theater and premiere access relea
Screwing Pixar over again?
Why wouldn't they let Soul and Luca at least have the $30 premiere access?
They actually make quality movies not like the shit excreted out by the live action remake factory.
Anyway, if they're going to keep up the premium quality facade that moving a theatrical film to streaming gets, they need to throw some marketing in to give it that intangible quality otherwise it's just gonna sink like a stone as a DTV offering.
As Magnus' thread alluded to, DTV movies are not offered the same leeway in the consumer's mind. You can make a superb DTV film and no one talks about it or remembers it. Unlike a series, there is no buzz a movie can get dropping on a streaming platform that can rival a theatrical platform. Even a dumped film has greater prestige.
Trust the Mouse House to not give a fuck about that though all in the pursuit of fat corporate bonuses.

Re: Disney+ announcements (theater and premiere access relea
They finally did it. Black Widow will premiere on both Disney+ and theaters on the same day. Pixar’s Luca will be exclusive to Disney+

Idk why they can't just do similtaneous release for Pixar releases. Sacrificing them is weird but I guess.
