Is it? Didn't knew about that. Here the theaters opened with the same prices everywhere.

"As for library titles, we will be showing all of these beloved movies on the big screens of AMC: Back to the Future, Beauty and the Beast, Black Panther, Bloodshot, Ghostbusters, Goonies, Grease, I Still Believe, Jumanji: The Next Level, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back."

Odd selection, but I guess they didn't have a ton of options? Who is going to see Bloodshot at this point though?

Visited a theater for the first time since March today. Was good to be back! They were playing Harry Potter! :wub2:

The Marcus theater chain that I used to work for only has 3 of 91 locations open. Many are opening this Friday, and by the 28th, 72 of 91 are scheduled to be open. That includes the one I worked at closest to me. They even have The New Mutants programmed on their PLF screen for the 28th. I can't wait!

Don't see California theaters opening anytime soon... hopefully my drive in gets New Mutants.

Many showings of old films are sold out near me. Can only imagine how hard it will be to get tickets to Tenet, Wonder Woman, etc. with half capacity or less

Commercial during NbA playoffs: “Come see why Unhinged has been the #1 movie AROUND THE WORLD.”

:funny: WTF kind of misleading marketing is that? As if it isn’t the only new movie available for most countries to see.

Ooh my 6-screen AMC is getting Personal History of David Copperfield. I wouldn’t even need to buy every ticket to have that theater to myself. :funny: Peninsula might be the same way if they end up getting that too.

I’ve been determined to not go back to the cinemas right away, but some of these are gonna be hard to resist, even before Tenet.

Unhinged is not the only new movie in theaters. Here in SG there is Gerard Butlers Greenland that has been on top for list 3 weeks. Unhinged was #1 for just one week here. Unfortunately I have no interest in seeing either of them specially in theaters in this atmosphere.

Just saw the TV spot. It hit #1 in a handful of markets, so I guess "#1 movie around the world" isn't wrong, but yes, quite misleading. But hey, why not try to build some excitement.

But it’s true

To be fair I’ve seen marketing in the past like “the no.1 new comedy in America” - I.e a film that opens 7th and wasn’t even the number 1 comedy but at it was the no.1 NEW comedy,

Some of the theater terms being set by WB for Tenet include up to 12 weeks committed at a theater.

Feel this fall could see some records break like most weeks in the top 5, 10 for some films. We won't be breaking any OW records but some of those older records have a chance, especially if capacity issues cap weekends to a fraction of usual business.

I think it's unfair even if it breaks the record with these conditions but then again we are back to dark ages :P

Fauci: We won't be able to sit in theaters without masks until a year after an effective coronavirus vaccine is created

Total domestic box office hasn't reached $2B yet with 3.5 months left in the year.

Unless their are sleeper hits let's see if we can even get to $2.5B at this rate...

Is anyone else just like super sad at the state of the entertainment industry? Like it’s hard for me to even think about this time last year when I was looking forward to Frozen and Star Wars. Like it feels like this is the end of Hollywood. While most of my life is relatively back to normal, this is one thing that’s still so very far from normal.

It is indeed very sad but then again there weren't any huge blockbusters this year anyways. I do feel that Hollywood needs to change strategy otherwise they are digging their own grave.

Imagine if this had happened last year though lol. At least 2020 was expected on paper to be a down year regardless.

Only because 2019 Disney decided to release all their big movies in one fucking year.
