Just Mercy have been performing very well in limited release and with great reviews an A+ cinemascore I can see a Breakout with long legs.

1917 - $27m Like a Boss - $13m Underwater - $8m Just Mercy - $7m 1917 should easily lead the weekend going wide, given how well it held this weekend, increasing 5% from OW. Just Mercy has been tracking closer to On the Basis of Sex than to Selma.

Yeah Just Mercy reminds me so much of On The Basis of Sex. It's another solidly reviewed adult drama that was mostly ignored during awards season. This is assuming it doesn't get an Oscar nomination and I wouldn't bet on it. I say no way it opens to double digits.

1917 got some major free advertisement (or was it free?) on the Golden Globes last night. I don't doubt $50m+ OW.

1917 may actually be the first film EVER to win Best Pic at the Golden Globes and gone wide the following weekend. That should count for something! Will be interesting to track.

TROS is on track to see a 50% decline this weekend. Its 86% behind last Wednesday whereas Smaug was 85% behind from its last Wednesday (on the same day) and ended up dropping 49% though ofcourse Smaug had been in release longer so that could mean a heavier drop for TROS. When comparing TROS to TLJ its Wednesday was less than 50% of that and the later made $23.7m in the coming weekend. Going by that multiplier TROS will be around $11.8m but then again due to Jan 5-7 holiday effect for TLJ, TROS's Friday and Sunday will be better so around $13m-$14m. 50% drop from last weekend is $17.25m so that's the target for TROS. Anything under $14m would be terrible.
