November 8-10 predictions
Doctor Sleep Last Christmas Playing With Fire Midway
Didn't realize we had 4 wide releases next week.
I'm not feeling buzz for Doctor Sleep or any of the other releases. I'm thinking...
Doctor Sleep - 25 Last Christmas - 11 Midway - 12 Playing With Fire - 9

I don't see it for Doctor Sleep... the Shining really doesn't feel like a movie that needs a sequel. Most people don't associate it as a movie about alcoholism and cycles as much as King did when deciding to write a sequel, and the biggest draws in Jack and the Overlook are now gone. Maybe a prequel set in the Overlook or changing King's book to make it still around would have had more appeal

Re: November 8-10 predictions
Doctor Sleep should be a big deal, and the most recent trailer suggesting they go back to the Overlook at the end was really solid. Plus Ready Player One gave The Shining a big nostalgia boost last year. But people are horrored out right now and they might be a little sick of Stephen King too. There have been 8 movies and four TV shows since summer 2017, starting with The Dark Tower through now.

Bond not being able to be here is bad. Would have been the perfect film to come out this weekend (though I guess without Bond April 2020 would have been completely empty which would also have been an issue).
We're going to need films like Ford v Ferrai and Mr. Rogers to get real strong WOM and have strong legs during second half of this month. Frozen 2 alone won't be able to salvage it. Yeah WW84's worked out for the best. I do hope FvF, Rogers and Knives all fire up and exceed $100m

Re: November 8-10 predictions
Could Last Christmas upset Doctor Sleep? Possible though the collapse in rom-coms wont help its cause against a horror film (still a booming genre).

Re: November 8-10 predictions
The 930 Doctor Sleep had like ten people in the theater. Terminator was about half full at the same time last week.
