This is a literal crime.

I'm still horrified.

The International section was hit hard. Unless I'm just not navigating it correctly, I believe the only numbers they have are the weekend charts themselves (only in USD now).

If you click on an individual film, you have the option of selecting that film's country of origin's all-time rankings (located above the weekends), but it only includes all-time rankings for opening weekends, and what I believe is their list of biggest second, third, fourth, etc. weekends (it's worded very oddly). You don't get to see the total that correlates with that weekend either, just its overall gross. Again, all in terribly inaccurate USD figures, with many films missing from the various weekend charts.

This makes me glad I have all my own numbers and charts for just about everything (for Japan, at least).

Can we start a twitter hashtag or something? Maybe if they see how much people hate it they will go back.

I think this is the end of Box Office Mojo, IMDB acquired it but it rarely makes money, so IMDB takes the do or die action, and of course, to me IMDB is already dead since it close message boards.

Who the fuck is that abortion victim, I need the fucking name! He's surely going to hell for this, shitting all over our heads after 20 years of being with the site.

P.S. When the biggest Russian movie site kinopoisk.ru did a shitty redesign, there was such an outcry all over internet, that they had to kill the new site within a week and go back the way it was. So maybe we still have a chance.

I hate imdb so fucking much right now. Ending the derby and stuff without a fucking word was a lot to swallow, but this could genuinely kill my interest in box office almost completely, and I imagine it could for many others. I won't pay imdb a fucking dime for anything.

Among the information now requiring a subscription are breakdowns of box office performance for various genres, and historical data for Hollywood studios; it’s not clear what else may be locked behind the paywall, but among the data removed entirely from the free site are the ability to search for an individual’s box office history by title, and box office history adjusted for inflation.

WELP!

Brb adjusting to life without box office tracking as a hobby that I had since I was 13 years old when I wanted to know if Ice Age: The Meltdown was the #1 movie in the US, a whole 13 years ago. Literally half my life spent obsessing about this shit and poof, the main source of information is gone/fucked up beyond belief.

Me rn:

.. but after updating my 'box office' database, the updated Box Office Mojo site is a tragedy to put it mildly. I've been a follower of box office data since 1997 (first through Mr. Showbiz, Showbizdata) and I believe in 1998 with BOM, but this is a downgrade.

that's my history with box office as well. before that I was getting infos reading the entertainment section of USA Today newspaper. I remember headlines like Jurassic Park breaking the opening weekend box office. The Lion King opening huge. Independence Day topping 100m over it's long opening week. Those 90's block busters got me hooked on this shit. NOW ITS OVER! (not really)

I'm following box office since 1980 - well before any BOM or other sites - I will probably adjust much easier than the youngsters... And even before BOM became the IMDBpro mess it was full of mistakes which they never got rid of even when I told them so...

Well, I have my own vast box office archive, which I can use (and I probably put only 0.1 % of my data on my website, because there was no need to do so with BOM and the Numbers being around)...

Every single person I've seen comment so far hates the shit out of it. They're going to have to revert unless they truly don't give a fuck, which is a scary possibility.

It's terrible. The old site was a bit of a relic, but one I felt had stood the test of time well.

I doubt Amazon would care. Income from these sites are peanuts. Goal is to monetize through other means like ad driven free imdb web channel. At least they stuck with Imdb pro part for so called "pros".

Otherwise they would not do actions that reduces customer interaction like removing forums, removed paid pro mojo accounts, derby and many other things.

I hope Mark puts out more of the data he has and publishes in both German and English. His traffic will shoot up for sure(if he would want that).

I hope Jeff Bezos's steroids usage makes his balls falls off and a delivery drone crashes into his scalp. Fuck Amazon, fuck IMDB.

I'm just going to use TheNumbers from here on out. Feel free to send them feedback. They listen.
