5 wide releases... stupid.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold - 3,500
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark - 3,000
The Art of Racing in the Rain - 2,800
The Kitchen - 2,700+
Brian Banks (no idea what this is) - 1,500

Too soon for this?

Anyways it seems this is the best spot to avoid Disney this summer while getting some benefit

I think Dora can do 30m+, Scary Stories 20m+.

$10M wouldn't surprise me for Dora. Nor would $35M. A real wildcard though Summer 2019 has not been a good place for wildcards.

Why oh why is there another movie that has a dog narrarating over the story?

I've seen more ads for Art of Racing than almost any film this summer. It's crazy.

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if either of Dora/Scary/Racing won the weekend.

Films like Spy Kids, Agent Cody Banks and Sharkboy and Lavagirl should be good comps for Dora the Explorer. It's been some time since the last action film featuring mostly kids for a juvenile audience (actually it was The Kid Who Would Be King but that's British so doesn't count). So I think novelty will help Dora a bit. I see an $18m OW.

The Kitchen had better fucking KILL!!! I don't see how it couldn't top the box office with the sensational cast.

There's really no buzz. With no reviews yet and a first time filmmaker I'm not expecting good reviews. Still going to go see it though even if we just had this movie with Widows. That's another thing that will hurt it I'm sure. But with the cast it will certainly open to double digits.

All 5 will underperform. The Lion King will regain #1 from H&S

Using Deadline's projections [61m for H&S, 38m for TLK]

61% drop for H&S - 23.79m (same drop as F8)

And let's say TLK has it's first very good drop:
37% - 23.31m

I think H&S will drop in high 50s and TLK will drop low 40s so realitically I see 25.6m for Hobbs, 22m for TLK.

Hopefully The Lion King continues to plummet.

Everyone hates Lion King but it does have a good chance at regaining #1 nonetheless.

I don't think The Lion King is ever regaining #1 unless it does so Labor Day weekend.

Agreed. If it doesn't stabilize it should be at below $13m for August 16 weekend, and Good Boys should do more than that.

Scary Stories is only PG-13! I thought it would be R from the trailer. The rating will help it a lot in the box office as it features many kid characters. It could be a mini-Goosebumps.

It will be interesting to see if this or Dora will make more this weekend.

Still no reviews for The Kitchen or Scary Stories. SS could pull a Crawl I suppose, but The Kitchen is definitely gonna be DOA.

Not good on RT for The Kitchen but I'd see it no matter what. I'm sure it's phenomenal and I hope it kicks some ass this weekend

Kitchen is at 15% on RT. Ouch.

The Dora reviews being decent is a nice surprise. Would be cool if it somehow does 25m+ for the weekend. They should've kept it against Hollywood 2 weeks ago when it initially moved.

With this cast, why would it? These ladies can bring it horses of people and the reviews shouldn’t make a difference

In the right project sure. But those reviews will turn off many who would have gone.

The Kitchen feels dumped. I could swear it was original scheduled for October so no surprise it got moved up.
