Spider-man collapsed with its second weekdays, but still recovered for a good hold.

Define good hold? Anyway what are you predicting for Endgame?

BOM is going way too optimistic with EG's 3rd weekend of $73m with its current dailies and predicted Thursday of $7.5m I just don't see how it goes higher than $66m (same multiplier as IW).

Better than last week. Not much better just because of the screens it’s losing. Spillover will be an ongoing issue long term over the weekends with all the May movies taking screens. It will eventually hold much better.

Runtime isn’t good for weekdays. With spillover decreasing, that effect is becoming more obvious.

The time difference in IW's runtime wasn't significantly lower to EG. EG is definitely the most comparable to IW and the former has been dropping slightly higher. I don't see how that will suddenly get better specially with a bigger competition this weekend.

30 minutes is significant.

And more spillover frontloading means bigger drops. Spillover continues, the Wednesday drop was lower even though the Tuesday increase was lower (and that despite the fact that other movies increased more on Tuesday and decreased more on Wednesday this year).

Screens will hurt it this weekend, but it can make it up in the long run with more spillover. It still has a lot of time.

22 minutes and long runtime would have made a difference if it wouldn't have burned up so much demand thus far. The past movies that you are referring for better holds with long runtime have almost never broken OW record (if they did they didn't do it by so much). The demand is slowing down after such a gargantuan total in just 13 days (only 7 movies unadjusted have reached $650m+ total and about 35-36 movies with inflation).

I agree that the late legs would be good and then summer will help boost its weekdays but it wouldn't be making much by the time June comes up at the very least not enough to take over SW7's domestic total.

So its looking very unlikely that this happening due to some obvious frontloading, but honestly it doesn't really even matter anymore since it has already made so much fucking money. I just think we jumped the gun a bit early, because of those insanely impressive and gigantic OW numbers.

It will take over Avatar but won't do much more than that.

Agree with Sparrow. Looking like 2.8B finish than 2.9B. 3B is dead as a dodo.

One can almost see you shrug at the end of your sentence. Like out-grossing the biggest film in history is nothing to look twice at.

I now think Avatar keeps international record though EG will take WW record. Would be nice that the movies have all different records.

It has slowed down significantly and competition next 2 weeks are way worse than last year when solo won the weekend with less than 30m and weekend after that Oceans 8 topped with 40m. This year next weekend has Zilla, Rocketman and Ma which should combine over 110m, next weekend has pets 2 and Dark Phoenix which should combine over 110m again. Even overseas it will lose lots of screen count.

For it to overtake Avatar, it needs few weekends of great holds, Still possible but wont happen quickly. I am thinking it will do it August/September timeframe with another expansion.

If Endgame could not beat TFA in the US, nothing will for years.

its domestic number is like 25% below IW at this point. But OS hold was not bad. But the compeition is unrelenting and its run soon will be for very leggy markets. It needs a studio boost to come close to Avatar but could beat initial run for Avatar.
