Pikachu will draw fans, and there's a lot of them. My concern is the pervasive silence among casual moviegoers. No video game adaptation has cracked $50m and I'm not sensing this will, either.

I’m baffled as to why Nintendo hasn’t announced anything about the new Switch games this week. It’s a perfect opportunity for cross promotion.

At least Pokemon Go is doing a Detective Pikachu special event.

How do you guys think Endgame will hold?

Think it'll drop another 52%. Demand has been burned a lot so Idk if it'll get decent holds now.

I am thinking 65m for Endgame. Its definitely running out of audience. Tuesday increase is just 17% as opposed to 29% for IW last year.

What are people's drive-ins showing this weekend? Mine toyed with the idea of Pikachu with La Llorona but ultimately went Pikachu and Avengers. Guess they weren't ready to give that one up. I would think some will have Pikachu and Shazam! Just wondering if the latter might hold well if it gets a drive-in bump of any kind.

If Pika does $79m I don't see how EG will hold that well. I believe it's going below $70m

The “leaked” dancing video is one of the best late game marketing moves I’ve seen in recent history. It’s still in top 10 trending on YouTube and has 8.1m+ views on YouTube alone (and likely tens of millions of impressions across multiple platforms).

Legit think it added 5m to its OW just because of it. It’s that damn effective.

Yeah leave it to Reynolds to do all the best marketing for your movie. Warner Bros really should have done more stuff like that for this movie, but it still feels a little too late IMO.

You act like it wasn't planned. Like Warner Bros. had nothing to do with it. Guys, this is part of WB's marketing campaign. They are using an asset (Reynolds) that they paid for.

Based on your theater?

Presales in my area seem stronger than Shazam. I'd be surprised if previews are below 4m...

No, just a feeling. Previews and tomorrow night actually look really strong.

Was hoping for $10M previews considering they start at 4. And I’m pretty sure thats what Venom had on route to $80M.

Seems highly unlikely though. The movie is pulling a James Harden and cratering during the final stretch. Even the video game sites that gave it good reviews are only posting about Thrones and Endgame.

Lowered my predictions for Detective Pikachu, Endgame, Hustle, and Poms.

Don't know a thing about Tolkien. Haven't seen any promotion for it but someone has - 10am shows selling a few tickets with retirees.

I've seen a lot of TV ads for it and the trailer in theaters a few times.

So it would have made UNDER $50 million without it. :funny:
