The Wednesday numbers make this clear. First I began wondering when it will move ahead of Shazam, then yesterday I realized it could overtake La Llorona by the weekend. Now it’s clear it will be in second Thursday and it’s already well ahead of Shazam. Looks like another increase this weekend.

Black Panther fell -4% on Infinity War weekend. And only -14% the weekend before.

I'd think it will drop -30% next weekend.

Well true!! Also look at the comparison from movies that opened similar to CM. The boost this time is even bigger than holidays effect.

It's not exactly or entirely a free ride. It's a combination of factors. If WOM were poor, it wouldn't get the boost; it wouldn't even have the opportunity, since it would have fallen further and lost it's screens.

It got slaughtered by Endgame. It was the worst possible release date.

It seems kind of unfair to say that it proves once again that 3.0+ multipliers are outliers for the genre, because it's not a normal comparison, but it also had two weeks with light competition and spring break. It's third week hold was no doubt helped because people went to see it before Endgame.

First time since March 21. It was 7th on April 12.

I wonder if both of those are records. The first being number of days between appearances at #1 without a re-release or expansion. The second, furthest drop before returning to #1 for such a movie.

It was an ok movie but now will challenge $450 m. I haven't seen this level of movie halo since Alice In Wonderland followed the 3D wave post Avatar to $334 m m and $1B WW on its way to #8 WW on the all time list.

It's sequel couldn't pass $80 m or $300 m globally.
