Pikachu won't hit #1 on any of its weekends, but it just won't be the highest-grossing one to not, so it's not worth choosing it.

I don't know what other movie that might not be #1 on any weekend would beat its gross.

Never mind. I'm pretty convinced Pikachu will be #1 opening weekend.

You think it’ll top 70m OW?

Sorry - go to the "Database" tab for now.

I apologize on the slowness of the other charts. Still working on them! :)

I do.

I think before Endgame it was trending for well over 100m OW. Endgame certainly dampened buzz but I’d certainly not be surprised by over 100m still.

At least the trailer seems to be showing before a lot of prints of Endgame.

Ad Astra is moved out of the summer season

Quote:
Brad Pitt’s science-fiction adventure movie “Ad Astra” has quietly vanished from the release schedule, three weeks prior to its previously announced May 24 opening date.

Fox had originally dated “Ad Astra” for Jan. 11, 2019, then decided in late 2018 to move it back four months to the Memorial Day weekend on May 24. Disney closed the deal for the 20th Century Fox film assets in March and has not done any promotion for the movie since then — no trailer or stills have been released. “Ad Astra” was not included in early tracking numbers released Thursday for the Memorial Day period, expected to be dominated by Disney’s live-action “Aladdin.”

Does that mean #7 is out? Or did we change it so that since it is not directly referenced in a question, it's OK?

You're right with the second part. Although I think it has never been changed, it has always been this way. Only questions 1-5 can be voided as they refer to specific movies.

It was close, but yep - question #7 still stands, as only 21% of people named it.

Release changes
TOTAL GROSS PREDICTIONS - Backup movies are in place in case any of the 30 predicted movies change their release date. (Once a movie moves its release date outside our season window, the first backup movie listed comes into play.)
TOP 5 PREDICTIONS - Only the 30 predicted movies (and 2 backup movies) are eligible for the Top 5 ranking, so no blockbuster that gets released last-minute into the season will be eligible. If a movie that appears in over 30% of Top 5 predictions moves out of the season, then affected players' Top 5 predictions will be automatically adjusted with what was their next highest-predicted movie.
BOX OFFICE QUESTIONS - A box office question will be voided in the following scenarios:
-The movie with the release date change is specifically mentioned in the question
-The movie with the release date change appears in over 30% of player responses to the question

Those that chose Ad Astra for question 7 obviously weren't thinking straight.

Or is the answer in fact Ad Astra because it went from a wide opening to 0 before it even got to its third weekend this summer.

I don't see how anyone could have thought that was making that date without a trailer yet.

Not that it matters much, because I'm pretty sure UglyDolls is gonna clinch that question now. :mer:

New Mutants and Artemis Fowl both moved by Disney to 2020. All backups in play now. Luckily no box office extra questions were harmed

Ad Astra and Artemis Fowl moved out of the summer.

And Rocketman just got slapped with an R-rating which would chop my prediction down by about half. Ugh.
