Given that a Star Wars film is released so often now, I wonder if your average Star Wars fan believes that IX will be the final chapter. Do they trust Disney not to milk it even more? And do some of them even care if it's the last one? Solo's numbers do kind of show that the fans have lost faith. I wonder how far that stretches.

Everyone knows IX isnt the last one. Disney have never hidden the fact they want to release many star wars films and trilogies after this one.

I feel like this has too many loose ends to wrap up. I would greatly prefer if they announce Episode 10 as the completion to the Rey/Kylo saga.

Nah! The Saga movies will always be one trilogy set at a time

many of these won't be happening

The only one that should happen is the Boba Fett film. But make it for $100m, make it R-rated, don't put so much financial pressure on it, and it'll probably do well.

They really should just can the origin movies (Fett and Obi-Wan) but yes if they do - make them on smaller budgets.

I think it'll get the Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith bump. :)

We already have a Boba Fett origin film though

It was called Attack of the Clones

Boba Fett's origin is also explored pretty well in the animated series. And after seeing Solo, it's clear they're still considering both Clone Wars and Rebels as canon, but more importantly, as apart of their film universe.

If you are gonna do a Boba Fett movie then you should give it to Kevin Smith. That way you can sell it as a Deadpool like mega budget passion project. Mangold is a good director, but people will just see it as another cash grab origin spin off.

What they really need to do is bring Lucas back to map out the stories and create the characters/worlds like he used to. That's always been his strong suit and he did it flawlessly, even in the prequels, which still have some of the most amazing character designs, set pieces and worlds put to screen. The plots, on paper, for those films were also really good. He failed when it came to the execution. Leave the actual screenwriting and directing to someone else.

And I'm certain that bringing back Lucas in that capacity would restore faith from the fanbase. Everything would feel more 'canon' at the very least, the lack of which ("all this is just fan fic!") is a complaint from SWs fans that seems to be affecting grosses.

Yeah, I'm sure George would love to come back. He's missed all of the fans wishing he was dead the past few years.

"This is all just fan fic!" is a stupid thing stupid people say about every franchise anymore.

ROTS increased as it had Vader and was like an All Star match up of epic powerful SW characters.

In Episode 9 all you have is Rey vs Ren and Rey already won in Episode 7 so who cares lol :funny:

TFA and Last Jedi both smoked ROTS, adjusted. So Vader doesn't mean shit. Audiences want great Star Wars films.

Last Jedi did not SMOKE ROTS. It sold hardly any more if you account for 3D. And it was following up a much more hated Star Wars film.

TFA made so much money because of the hype of being the first new Star Wars film and the first sequel in 32 years. Not because of how beloved it was. Phantom Menace sold a similar amount of tickets and is definitely way more hated.

Episode 9 could be great and still gross less than 8.

In North America I guarantee 9 makes more than 8

ROTS was sold as the LAST Star Wars with the return of Vader. That hugely increased its BO.

Episode 9 will be great, and gross more than 8.

Last Jedi had Luke and Leia. It's all about the main characters from the original trilogy. Without them, a big chunk of the older audience won't show up.
