Can't talk about it yet, deadline for predictions at my website is in 6 1/2 hours and some readers from my website are reading KJ as well...

So what is everyone's final predictions?

Right now I'm going with slightly worse legs than TLJ, 2.75. Guessing reception will be mixed but being close to Christmas will help.

195/536. Barely above Rogue One.

Still expect a multiplier if 3, which would be extremely frontloaded for the date. Expect an opening in the 170s. Expect it to come in below what presales and previews suggest, and below early estimates, because those will be impacted less be deflation from the holiday.

Should still get over $550 mil total. And honestly, it could be worse, lol.

Holy shit if this actually ends up grossing less than RO. Even it finishing at $550M would be really disappointing IMO, especially for a Star Wars finale, but that seems to be the direction its heading in.

ROTS adjusts to $500 mil on the dot.

$550 mil wouldn't be great, obviously, but that's a fine number. As long as it still breaks a billion worldwide.

So what’s the latest age George Lucas can make 3 more movies? If they wait 5 years he’s only 80...

Post subject:  Re: Star Wars - Episode IX predictions (12/20/2019)

Yeah, the fact that this may not even make a billion is pretty ehh but they already announced a break so *shrug*

Would be bizarre if this does like BvS #s. Who would've thought. Don't think overseas will go that low so it all depends on if domestic is well over 500m and overseas #s are well over 450m.

Yeah I'd be perfectly fine with no more Star Wars movies for the next 5 to 6 years, especially with the potential of the D+ shows. If the Kenobi series ends up being on par with Deborah Chow's episodes of The Mandalorian than we could really have something great to look forward too IMO. The future of this franchise as far as live action content goes should completely in the hands of people like Favreau, Filoni and Feige.

I like that a film that is just ok (Solid by any means) will get such an iffy RT score. It's obviously better than the first two prequels.

You know I never got into that TFA vs. TLJ debate because I really liked both of them. It does in a sense remind of TDKR. It tries to please everyone and that displeases people. But good God, this is by no means a swing and miss flop. It's more or less like Goblet of Fire in the franchise.

^? Goblet of Fire isn't a good adaptation but it's one of the most well liked films of the series.

But you know what I'm saying. People disliked it at the time because they were like "IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TWO MOVIES, so much was cut out!"

I loved it then, and love it still. I think JJ pretty much nailed it. He failed in parts. But this was a still effective finish. The importance of SW took a major swing these past 5 years,

HP4 is the best film of the series cause it’s the best book in the series.

Gonlet of Fire is an action movie where the book was a mystery. Completely emphasized the wrong parts of the story. Worst movie along with Half Blood Prince. Order of the Phoenix cut a lot but kept the best parts.

You've seen the movie?

The problem isn’t just that some people dislike the films, it’s that they no longer feel as special when they’re not directed by Lucas. They would best off trying to mimic Lucas style next time because it’s not really Star Wars without whatever stagey stuff he was doing.

This unfortunately looks like a trainwreck :-(

I am seeing it saturday evening on liemax. keeping fingers crossed that I get Tenet 6 min preview. I heard its mind blowing looking at twitter comments.

I have never disliked a JJ movie and so I am going with open mind for this one.

It's rotten and seemingly for the right reasons.

Great to see critics rejecting THE LAST JEDI haters and their nonsense.

how are they doing that? TLJ still sucks even if TROS does. TLJ started the downward trend

The overwhelming sentiment from the naysayers here is this was a unnecessary course correction over the previous film that lacks imagination and new ideas due to its efforts to be the anti-TLJ.

Sith was good at the time, the effects were amazing. But, it has just as much corny dialogue as the much more derided Attack of the Clones.

I don't think ROTS aged that well. Yes its the best of the prequels but that isn't saying all that much.

Funnily enough - it is TPM that has the most memorable scenes and moments two decades later.

$166m opening mirroring BvS would be hilarious.

I'm starting to think my $190s prediction is too high. As of now I bet opening will be high 170s and do decent Christmas business and then fall like a rock.

If this drops like TLJ did from TFA, WW #s would be $858.8m... hm
