Now this looks a lot different from what I expected...

That's how you kill a franchise! Oh my that looks shit. Won't even crack $80m if it's all in the hospital and staged like a horror film.

Loved the comic as a kid but the trailer is weak as hell.

On the positive side: the storyboards (that leaked or Boone posted, can’t remember) show a girl with a magic sword and a dragon doing a flip over a 20 foot tall demon bear. So there will be some crazy superhero-y stuff in there.

It also only wrapped a couple of weeks ago so there’s hope that the trailer folks didn’t have a lot to work with.

I bet a lot of effects aren't done.

If this is low budget like it should be it should be a decent hit. Trailer is whatever though.

Looks kinda cool, I'm glad they are going full on horror with it and I think audiences will respond positively. Its the perfect date movie! I think the opening will be within $10m of Dark Phoenix.

Hard to predict this so early, but judging by the first trailer they seem to be going for the horror crowd which is interesting. I can see it being a really popular choice for younger audiences with the horror/X-Men influence and the Friday The 13th opening, but it might be hard for it to truly breakout if the casual/older superhero movie audience isn't interested.

I think it should crack 100 Million. I wouldn't normally be all that interested but I didn't expect a horror movie. Looks really cool. Definitely interested.

X-Men fans? There aren't any. There are only Wolverine fans and Deadpool fans, and since none of those are in it, and this looks like a horror film, it will struggle to make $80m.

Looks cheap as hell. They better put out another trailer soon that actually looks like an X-Men movie or this is going to struggle to outgross Alien: Covenant.

That looks nothing like X:Men even if its a good movie they are going to loose a lot of audience with this.

Even if it wasn't X-Men and it is a good movie, they'll still make peanuts. See A Cure for Wellness.

Looks like some DTV movie.

I gotta say, I do like that after Deadpool, Logan, and now this, it seems like Fox is really playing with the superhero format in ways that Marvel Studios and WB/DC wouldn't even dare to.

That said, I have no clue how this does. The trailer doesn't really play up the X-Men connection, so I'm not sure how much audiences will make the connection.

It is admirable, indeed. Just on this occasion it looks shit.

I'd expect future trailers to play up the X-Men connection. I think for now (although nothing special) it looks different enough to raise some interest. Still don't think it will do much more than $120m-$130m at best though.

I'm just wondering how low the budget is. It's opening in IMAX so there have got to be big action sequences of some kind, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's like 10 Cloverfield Lane and it's all in the last five minutes (although the chances of this being even half as good as that picture are slim).

Yep I believe the action will most likely be concentrated in last 10-15 minutes and most of the movie will be in the asylum. But its interesting that this is being released in IMAX, I thought this will be a small budget movie like $40m-$50m and would not need an IMAX release, this trailer makes even lesser sense now.

2 years, 2 months later... new trailer tomorrow.

LOL I have no idea why they didn't just leave this in August last year. But glad it's finally coming out.

It "was" a great take on the genre but with Disney at helm no idea how it will turn around now.

It might actually be the original cut of the movie

They need to keep marketing it as a scary movie, imo.

I liked the first half of the trailer and then its just usual action which is no longer interesting, though I am guessing the second half makes it more accessible to Marvel fans.

Yeah, this would have been a perfect D+ release but I guess they had an obligation to put it out in theaters.

With it being sandwichec between Mulan and Bond I think an opening in the 20s sounds about right. If this turns out to be "fine" the delay really was for nothing lol there were plenty of slots the last 2 years this could've come out.
