I don't think the aspects that made IT successful (an adaptation done right, one starring kids, clown) will resonate as profoundly.

I think the trailer is just as good as the last one (which was amazing). That's rare for a hit horror franchise.

I think it opens slightly larger than the first and grosses slightly less.

So $125m/$301m

It stopped mattering after Titanic tbh. Then Lord of the Rings proved it mattered even less. Hollywood has just always been scared to do 3 hour long films.

the box office is dead until this comes out. I'm starting to the Britney Runs a Marathon will do better than expected as counter programming to IT.

Not surprised, I'm not feeling nearly as much hype as the first one. Wouldn't be surprised to see an OW under $100M.

Horror sequels don’t necessarily do that well, and it made over 300m, which is massive for horror. Odds are it drops.

I wonder how much, if at all, better it would have done had it been a direct sequel with just the kids. King would have been upset, but he hates all of his good adaptations.
