Re: Wonder Woman 2 predictions
I do find it funny that all the talk in the big female superhero sequel will be about a dude.

I doubt time travel. They are probably saving that for the Flash movie.

1 year bump
ViewerAnon says test screenings great, will be another huge hit.
really dislike the early June release date though, graduation season aint good for movies. Move this up to late April/Avenegers weekend and run it as the main event of the summer

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
I wish this was coming out earlier but June release is fine. The first literally did 400m in the same release date, this will be huge too. Nice to hear the test screenings are going well, remember people trying to spread the first one was a mess.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
I think this tops $200m if it opens the summer as the main attraction and first big superhero film in a while.
where it currently is, the market will have slowed, black widow will steal thunder, etc

Open it last weekend of April and it will do $200m/$550m/$1.3b

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
It's not happening. And opening it a week before Black Widow would be dumb.
Since supposedly it's a romantic movie I thought Valentine's Day eould be cool but I forgot about Birds of Prey.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
I think this is decreasing from the first one. The long delays don't spark confidence in the product. The first one was also fairly mediocre and I think part of the reason it had a reception was because it seemed new, the first big female-led superhero film and all that. Kind of like what happened with Black Panther. I don't get the sense that it's become a geniunely iconic and beloved film like the first Spider-Man and The Dark Knight were. Patty is simply not a great director. I still can't believe a bigger fuss wasn't made about how the film essentially treated the Germans like they were in World War 2. Wonder Woman plowing through a village murdering German soldiers in World War I was incredibly disturbing to watch. That's supposed to be the hero?? The whole conflict was a political mess and those soldiers were conscripted into it, they weren't the bad guys. Superman would have never.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
Same increase as Guardians 1 to 2 sees this finishing at around $472m. Seems plausible.

Yeah I dont see this decreasing at all.
$450-$500m seems about right.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
I wasn't a fan of the first WW, but this should still easily be the highest grossing film of next year. It wouldn't surprise me if it decreased somewhat though.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
If this decreases we probably won’t have a $400M film next year. The opening should be $160M+ so I don’t think that will be an issue.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
Black Widow doing anything resembling 150/400 would be horrible news for this movie just as Captain Marvel totally overshadowed Shazam.
WB imo is fucking nuts to let Black Widow open before this. This movie can cement WW as one a true major box office draw, how they could put her in such an obvious spot to be upstaged is, to me, crazy.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
I agree that WW should move up. It's in the can isn't it?
A WW/Birds of Prey swap would be a good idea actually.

A WW/Birds of Prey swap would be a good idea actually. Would not mind that but it ain’t happening. WW84 marketing (tweeted by Patty) begins in December. Way too late for February release.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
Because she's not a superhero. Yes, she now has almost 10 years worth of name recognition, but she also just died. And if all they can muster up is a Hawkeye cameo, it's going to play like a spy thriller, with a superhero boost.
Winter Soldier!!! only opened to $95 mil, at that had a ton more going for it that BW will have.
I think it will crack $100 mil, but something more like $105-110 mil at best. If the trailer blows me away, I could see it getting to like $125 mil? Anything more than that seems... insane.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
Black Widow will be big. Even if it is an origins film (I feel like they'll use it to bring her back tbh) she was one of the most talked about things about Endgame. It'll do close to Captain Marvel #s imo.

I'm kinda over the whole early word/test screening bullshit so whatever lol. Hopefully the movie is strong.

Re: Wonder Woman 1984 predictions
Getting pushed back eight months despite filming being done a whiiiile ago was never a good sign for its quality. The original was OK but it wasn't art. Maybe there's a reason Patty Jenkins didn't get any major jobs for a very long time.....

I didn't even like the first WW all that much, but that teaser managed to even get me kind of excited. Really looking forward to that trailer tomorrow.
