Normally, I'd say a film like this would end up in the $80-$120m range, but with this year underwhelming BO for animated films, we are due a breakout.

Lego Batman was a hit but not as big as expected. Captain Underpants was a minor animated entry. Cars 3 performed poorly as expected and DM3 is impacted by franchise fatigue (again as expected).

After this week's Spider-man Homecoming – the rest of July and August are jam packed with adult fair including - Apes, Dunkirk, Girls Trip, Atomic Blonde, Dark Tower, Detroit, Annabelle and Logan Lucky.

The Nut Job 2 will barely register as competition – plus it is released 3 weeks later.

With kids (and sadly adults) obsessed with social media, messaging etc. this is the type of “cutesy” novel thing they will flock to in hordes.

Anecdote (that may or may not hold any relevance) time : when I went to see Wonder Woman last week, I witnessed a guy ask for two tickets to The Eoji Movie (which obviously hasn’t been released). Both he and his daughter were visibly upset it wasn’t playing yet… I do think there is a market for this film.

$200m Domestic? or out ?

It has a much better chance to gross sub 100 than 200. It looks Angry Birds quality.

I think it looks pretty good, but I cannot see $200m. I'm learning from The Angry Birds Movie. I'm going for $110m.

It has no competition and it looks better than I expectrd but... nah.

I could go with $150m as there seems to be little faith in this film but there is no fun in that.

I'll stick to $200m for now.

I like you MadGez, but NOPE. This looks like another Angry Birds all over again unless it gets great reviews, but that didn't exactly help Captain Underpants much either.

You don't need to join clubs based on likability of a poster. Its not like MadGez will start hating you if you don't join his club...is it?
