Last year also saw a Disney sequel with Johnny Depp coming six years after the last installment, and that flopped horrendously. It'll do better than that, but considering how poorly many of these unwanted sequels have been doing lately, I expect some very disappointing numbers.

Opening: $51.2 million
Total: $135.7 million (2.65)

International grosses might save it.

Early reactions are decent. 1 said it was the second best of the 5, while the worst said it was at least a vast improvement over the 4th.

Yeah this will be lucky if it can make it to $200m domestic. Probably $180m or so (MIB3 level)

It doesn't matter how good it actually is. I think the public are just bored of these movies and bored of Depp, and they all look the same. Where's the goodwill coming from? It will need Titanic levels of buzz/praise to overturn people just not caring about this franchise anymore.

These early reviews are quite unreliable so I'll take it with a grain of salt. Regardless it is good news if the movie is good, it'll only help it's subdued BO and might make it past $200m

I feel like it may do pretty well. The last one was a disappointment but this one looks pretty decent and if it is good, it could have some staying power. Pirates does have a bit of nostalgia among the mid to late 20s crowd at this point.

Just a dollar since the profit from the previous four was so much that this is basically a 0% risk project.

From what I understand shooting in sea is more expensive so this should surely be a $200m budgeted movie. It would need about $700m+ WW total to break even with the marketing costs. This is just taking theatrical run it would surely turn profit in the end with merchandise and home media sales.

its going to be huge in china(Bigger than Kong but lower than F8 or TF5). its definitely making 800m+. Pirates will play well in almost all the markets. But domestically it could disappoint big time. I still see it do something like 110/200/450(OS - China)/200-250m China.

I am seeing more interest in this movie than I initially thought. I think it will definitely make over 200m now
