THE LION KING is getting the DC treatment where critics totally overthink it and start questioning the film existence as opposed to just evaluating whatever it is on its own merit.

Even if it is essentially say... a DisneyNature CGI Lions film, like say Bears... that got a 91% RT score. And that didn't have an all star voice cast, and a relatable story.

The live-action photo-realistic transfer is the only reason I will see this in theaters. All the talk about the animals' mouth movement and not emoting as much as in animation has me more excited about it.

Let me tell you how many kids will care about the acting ability of a real animal.

Eh, depending on how reception is I bet legs will be fine. It literally has 2 weeks to itself (Hollywood won't impact it)

Lol at all the nitpicking in this thread--"the mouths don't move right!"--as long as the movie isn't just plain horrendous, which it apparently isn't, how good it is is beside the point. This is going to be one of those movies that everyone has to see so at the very least they can have an opinion about it. If their opinion is that they didn't think it was that great, so be it. They still went and saw it.

Club is an easy win.

Totally expected.

Aladdin got a rotten score too, despite being objectively a well made film. Not saying critics are wrong on TLK too, but their opinion is obviously biased when it comes to the remakes of Disney's most iconic classics. In fact, I found very little depth or argumentation in their rotten reviews.

Came here to say that. Big issue seems to be their gripe with why a shot for shot remake was made in the first place. I can see audience reactions being more positive than that of the critics ala Aladdin.

I’m coming back around on this movie.

Well, I created this club nearly three years ago and now it’s the moment of truth. I’m not exactly optimistic but hey, Hakuna Matata!

Pre-sales are very good and it could open to 200m. But I dont see legs to take it to 750m. But 550m+ could happen for sure and that is awesome.

Fan event was nice. Poster is great. Film excellent but I prefer Aladdin. Eichner nailed his part and singing. Nice applause at the end

Mufasa and Beyonce are trending on twitter. Which means nothing for the general audience, but that seems like something.
