Petes Dragon- 7.0

From the numbers. So lower than the BFG? Wow.

Disney's definitely going to have a lot less motivation to make more live action films (besides their sure-fire hits like Beauty and the Beast).

I thought The BFG would do better, but Pete's Dragon seemed like a bad project to invest money into from the getgo.

True. Sounds like should've known from the script too that it was not going to be very big.

Pete only cost 60 Million. They'll be fine

Actually a pretty good weekend all things considered. Great opening for Sausage Party. Pete's Dragon did OK. Florence definitely did less than I expected, but that's on par with Ricki and the Flash.

Terrific holds for the holdovers, especially Bad Moms and Pets.

Very nice debut for Hell or High Water as well.

While Sausage Party is doing very well, it is a bit disappointing that its Preview to OD ratio was so front loaded. Hopefully it can have decent legs.

HUGE for SP. Good number for SS, its a better increase than GOTG but the bigger days advantage is getting thin each day.

While it cost very less that's a disappointing start for PD. Decent for FFJ though it should have done better.

Given the rest of holdovers that number for JB could have been better. GREAT hold for STB, BM and SLoP

Strong OD for SP, however as I expected it already seems to be showing signs of frontloading. Better for SS, although considering how well everything else held up it's not that great, but I'll take it. Meh for PD/FFJ.

Can SP make 150m?

WB has probably wasted more potential on one universe in one year than any other studio has ever has. Based on SS, they were just lazy.

Doubt it. It might be animated but it won't play like a kids film. It will probably open to something like $35m. So it would need a 4.3 multiplier. That would probably be the best multiplier so far this year. And I don't see that happening.

Yeah I don't see it getting $150m either, the Cinemascore is also B for it and while it doesn't always mean much but that grade really doesn't scream that this will be the exception this year to have a great multiplier. Also its previews to OD does make it frontloaded a bit.

Zootopia begs to differ.

I said probably as I wasn't sure. :mer: The point stands.

Sausage Party can hopefully get to 100 Million but I doubt it will.

Any early numbers for Saturday being mentioned anywhere yet? Really hoping Sausage Party doesn't drop incredibly hard but I think it will. Probably 10.1 Million on Saturday and maybe 7.5 Million on Sunday for a 31 Million weekend.

I don't see SP increasing over Friday business minus previews.

RTH is saying 11+ for Sausage Party for Saturday so it increased from Friday.

If true, that surprises me. I expected it to drop from Friday w/o previews.

Yeah the same here that's a great number for SP if true.
