Hopefully, this will be my last SW7 thread... ![]() Looks like $300m-$400m seem assured and everything will depend on its late legs... And of course ROGUE ONE and some other movies can do way more than SW7 in 2016, so where do you see the sevenquel in 16? The poll will close in 21 days... |

I think there are "only" 10 $300+ mil potential films. So... It will finish in the Top 10. I'm gonna go #3 right now, but I for sure think it will be Top 5. |

There's no way I see it beating Finding Dory and I also see an ID4 overperformance. So I'm going with #4 as we'll get a surprise here or there! |

Rogue One will do gangbusters, it's so obvious it will. If Episode VII somehow does 500+ million in 2016 then maaaybe. |

There's a chance SW7 won't be #1 for 2015 or 2016 in terms of calendar year grosses. JW - $652 SW7 - $601m with two more days left to get that $51m. |

Avatar was #1 in 2010 with about $466 mil. Didn't get #1 for 2009. |

Though rarely has a film had to deal with another 600m+ grosser in the same year. The closest I can think of in terms of two uber grossers battling it out for No.1 is 1994 with Lion King and Gump. |

Doubt it can be #1 in 2016 with Rogue One, Dawn of Justice, and Civil War all coming out. But it should be #1 in 2015. $51m in two days should be easy. |

It needs another $600m to be #1 movie and most likely Avatar kind of legs. There is still a slim chance it can do that but I just don't see that happening as of now. |

I don't know, I think it went down again today. I am thinking something like 28/22.5 and that is not quite enough is it? Unless, rth has already posted it made $30m, then nevermind. |

To be honest I haven't checked any daily grosses for Star Wars. I just said it should be easy to mock the general consensus here that it is this all-conquering box office phenomenon. |

Got it. Well if I could post a screen shot of the last showing tonight, it would show one seat sold in a 500 seat theater as pre sales ended. I think the last person in America finally saw it. I think James Cameron when he walks out @ 2:00 am EST will hold a press conference and announce: Quote: Put a fork in this onion, this bitch is done. I am the last person in America to see her. According my newest innovation, in conjunction with Facebook and Google,The Moviegoer 2020 has analyzed 200 tetrillion texts, emails, and unique porn visits to evaluate the chances this clunky hybrid of ANH and ESB can overtake the last innovative original blockbuster Hollywood has put out this century. It's not my fault no one else thought to madlib Aliens, Dances with Wolves, Pocahontas, and Princess Mononoke before me. And for those of you who actually think I am going to put my name on Avatar 2, I am an iconoclast. We don't look back, we only look forward. Did Steve Jobs do an Apple II? fuck no!! He pushed forward on the groundbreaking Lisa. I have never repeated myself and I don't plan on starting now. Terminator 2 was an artistic exercise to see if I could turn a steroid juiced bodybuilder with a limited vocabulary and even more limited acting range into a sympathetic lead and in the governor's mansion in a decade. I did the former and was off by only 2 years on the latter. Other that I have never done a sequel. Anyways, TM 2020 has calculated that all the 80 y.o. Grandmas of 40 y.o. virgins have seen the film, and the 40 yovs will run out of money soon when their holiday gigs wind down. The film only has $125m left in the tank. Now, I may have gotten some facts wrong in this statement, but this is only because I have been drinking for 10 straight days tooling around the PCH looking for Mrs. Cameron V. ...that is only counting Avatar's rerelease. 1st run it's still fucked. |
