I think this one's going to have a pretty impressive multiplier. Excel's gonna go nuts on his BVS prediction to convince himself it will top this.

Is this the official "BEST OF EXCEL" thread?

Post subject:  Re: EXCEL: Episode I - The Total Humiliation

I'd say between excel and Zwacks, we have an easy 50+ wrong predictions just for SW: Let's see.

1. No one cares about SW anymore
2. No one under 40 gives a shit about SW
3. Potter's previews. I never!
4. No OD
5. No OW
6. No All time
7. No Avatar
8. AOU easily
9. AOU easily in OD
10. AOU in OW
11. AOU in total
12. AOU is better
13. Jurassic World easily
14. Jurassic World is the generational franchise of all time (Not even sure what that means)
15. December is stupid
16. The December OW was 70 million (84!)
17. People would rather shop
18. Harry Potter is the defining franchise nowadays.
19. Movie theaters will be over in 18 years (I'm taking a leap on that one!)
20. 140 million would be phenomenal for a film like this
21. 200 million is insanity
22. Prequels left a bad taste
23. Hype isn't even close to Phantom Menace
24. A film trailer smashing youtube records is meaningless.
25. Most of those watching the trailer were repeat viewers
26. Pre sales mean nothing
27. Record shattering pre sales mean nothing
28. Revenge of the Sith was a weak performer
29. Avatar is safe
30. Luke who?
31. Han who?
32. Chew who?
33. No one I know is even excited about it (Remind me never to go where you live)
34. December record beaten in OD is poppycock.
35. If I'm wrong, I'll eat a shoe (Well I hope)
36. People seriously need to calm down
37. The hype is so much lower than BVS
38. Nothing will ever come close to Potter's previews again
39. And if it does it will be equally front loaded
40.There's no demand for a film doing huge numbers at Christmas
41. 500 million would be ridiculously good
42. People predicting 650+ are crazy
43. People predicting 750+ are crazier
44. People thinking 850 million are bat shit crazy.
45. Phantom Menace was a mega disappointment box office wise
46. The prequels killed any demand for this franchise
47. The film doesn't deserve it!
48. I'm in touch with today's youth
49. Only fanboys care about Star Wars
50. I'm the king!

SW smashing yet another record!

People are giving Excel a lot of flack, but of course everything makes sense in hindsight. I'd say a bunch of those factors at least 50% of folks could probably also get attributed to as well.

Posted this in the other forum, but as "box office experts" here, we almost all kinda dropped the ball in 2015.

-#2015 was an overrated year that struggled to become the biggest year of all time when it was supposedly destined too pre-summer.

-We almost all dropped the ball on Jurassic World. Topping the OW record? It seemed to be completely undetected by most of us here out of the blue happening. Aren't we all the experts supposed to be on the ball on a big record like that breaking?

-Excel's going to be off 70-80% on his prediction, but most of us are going to be 20-30% off of our OW predictions for SW. That's not good either and nothing to gloat about. :P Also, most will be 40-50%+ off on their SW totals as well so isn't that pretty embarrassing for us as the box office experts?

Long story short, Excel was way off for sure. But he's getting a lot of flack that many of us probably could have to some extent. My $700 m total prediction will be way off on this but my $261 m OW is going to be close. So if your going to troll on Excel maybe also be able to handle some of the flack for your own bad predictions! :P

Happy Friday! See ya'll later!

You guys are always ranting at Excel over something so every other week so it starts losing its novelty the 15th time.

If not SW, its something else. Just don't feel like there's any real debate over arguments more so than a tad of trolling, which I don't think is very encouraging for getting new users to the forum. It's all in good fun but I don't think many of the people can take it as well as they give it if they were in Excel's position to be honest.

If a new user continuously exposes the same stupid/crazy/trolling argument over and over again then he is not needed on this forum.

Point noted. I don't think there's a way to really "win" on this so I'll just stay out of it (end rant).
