$15.6 million in UK from Tuesday + Monday night shows. Better opening day than Skyfall in local currency, though trailing in dollars ($10 million vs. $9.2 million, however that is with Spectre having already built off some demand through Monday night shows). Looking good for $50+ million Monday-Sunday.

Bodes well for its OW prospects everywhere. Should open 10-15% higher than Skyfall on average.

The legs are not likely to be as good no. But with the OS markets its hard to tell. For Domestic that is basically a given.

The early reviews from special previews here say that the movie is just okish, nowhere as good as Skyfall. The anticipation for Spectre seems to be good here with pre-sales doing brisk business.

It set the all-time opening record (regular weekend) in four out of six countries it opened in: Netherlands, Finland, Norway and Denmark.

In UK it placed second to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 over Fri-Sun, but of course it had the big disadvantage of having opened on Monday, whereas Harry Potter opened on Friday. It would have smashed the record with a reular Friday opening.

This is a very very good start. It will not have Skyfall's legs and shoudl lack its repeat viewings, but with these openings likely setting a trend and with China most likely increasing BIG TIME (Skyfall made $60 million there), we are possibly looking at $900-950 million overseas.Shoudl easily top Skyfall's $1.1 billion worldwide too.

I'm curious to see how big Spectre will end up being here in the Netherlands. Skyfall ended up as the third highest grossing film of all time here, behind only Titanic and Avatar (which it handily beat in admissions) with over €18.5 million, so it's got a very long way to go.

In dollars it also beat Avatar, as far as I remember.

Yes it did. I always forget about the differences in conversion rate since I just look at how films do over here in terms of euros since weekly admission figures aren't published (though totals are).

Huh, Spectre is actually keeping up with Skyfall rather well over here in Holland, and was still outpacing it after the third weekend.

Spectre // Skyfall

Weekend 1: €3,377,404 // €2,963,464
Weekend 2: €3,077,509 (-8.8%) // €2,875,087 (-3.0%)
Weekend 3: €2,500,004 (-18.8%) // €2,072,880 (-27.9%)

Total after last weekend: €10,943,676 // €10,000,140

Mockingjay might offer Spectre more competition in its 4th weekend than what Skyfall had, but even then it could still match (or outdo) the latter's 23.5% dip.

Waah Spectre tumbled down heavily in China 75%. It still did a good $65.7m this weekend so it should be good for $700m-$750m OS with Japan still ahead. I don't see $1b happening but it won't miss by much. Another $50m from domestic market and it would have gotten to the mark.

It's rather disappointing how big of a disparity there is between SPECTRE and Skyfall's gross internationally, more so than it is at the domestic box office if you ask me. Most film series seem to be either stable or growing overseas, making SPECTRE a glaring outlier. I guess it's more of a testament to how insanely well Skyfall performed, but still.

Over here in Holland, Spectre is easily on track to beat Skyfall though, unless Star Wars completely obliterates it. It just spent its seventh consecutive weekend at #1, making 150K more over Skyfall's comparable weekend (dropping 35% vs 42%) and raising its total to €16,749,763 while Skyfall had made €15,485,810 through the same point. Skyfall ended up with €18.8 million, just shy of Avatar's #2 spot on the all-time list and SPECTRE should outdo that. It looks like the Dutch just really love their James Bond.

$630m from OS markets. It might do $700m with holidays, so a $100m drop domestically as well as OS and about $900m WW total. Still great but I expected it to do more in OS markets for sure.

Yeah, I am surprised that Spectre is actually struggling to reach $700 million overseas. It was hurt a lot by the exchange rate, though. I wonder what countries it particularly underperformed in, outside of the USA, because it did very well in Germany and in UK it won't miss Skyfall by THAT much. In China it outgrossed Skyfall...

Australia accounts for about $27 million, France for $26 million, Germany for $21 million, Japan (where it opened on the 4th of December) for 20 million, Russia for about $13 million and the UK for $25 million. That's $132 million out of the $170 million total difference.

The exchange rate does look like it's the biggest culprit, considering compared to the dollar the Euro was nearly 17% higher when Skyfall opened, the Russian Rouble was worth double what it is now, and the Yen is a lot weaker too. The Pound Sterling didn't dip much compared to the dollar, but all of those other less fortunate exchange rates sure add up. I mean, the difference between Spectre and Skyfall is only about €2 million in Holland, but like... $7 million because of the exchange rate.

In Germany Spectre is €6.1 million behind Skyfall's total now and when it is all over, Spectre might actually catch up. At worst, it will finish €1 million below...

Spectre passed both Skyfall and Avatar here in Holland last week, and with €19.6 million has become the second biggest film ever behind Titanic (€23.6 million).

That's obviously a huge total for Spectre but even with a similar OS total as Spectre I don't think it would have reached $1b. I think some of the Asian markets saw a decline from Skyfall as well.

It's made €10,705,092 through Wednesday, which is less than Spectre had made through the same point. I don't know its exact weekly number, but Spectre had made €10,943,676 at the end of its third weekend, €600,000 more than Star Wars had at the same point. I think it'll end up well behind Spectre because it won't have the same holiday boost later in its run, but it's already almost doubled what Phantom Menace made so it's doing very well.
