I just checked, the Euro was 3.5 % stronger when JURASSIC WORLD opened, so besides China missing, that's another reason why SW7 trails JW for now (might change with actuals anyway)...

Thinking around $1.3 billion overseas now and around $2.2-2.3 billion worldwide. Avatar should be safe OS and worldwide. Its OS gross will be safe for a long time if the exchange rate doesn't turn in favor of Hollywood.

INTL had a $2m uptick vs. estimates, so now it's:

$281m INTL + $248m domestic = $529m WW

(beating JW in the process)

I'm not sure Avatar's WW record is untouchable any more. If it can get to $1.2b domestic and continue the dom/int breakdown and get $300m+ from China, it will be close.

Do you think $300m+ from China might be asking too much of it?

Avatar's $2bln overseas is still pretty much untouchable.

Not necessarily. The release date is actually pretty good, with little competition for the two weeks after, and Disney appears to be doing all it can to raise awareness there with marketing blitz. The performance of recent domestic releases Mojin-The Lost Legend ($137m in 7 days so far) and Devil and Angle ($26m OD yesterday) give confidence to market potential, and Star Wars will be the first major Hollywood release in two months when it opens.

If Furious 7 can do 390m in China than TFA can do at least 300m. Right? Fingers crossed lol

The ratio of domestic/international after weekend 2 makes me think SW is going to miss Avatar. It's just way too domestic heavy. It needs to hold incredibly well in its existing markets.

$1.0 B domestic
$1.1 B overseas

Beating Titanic looks good but it's going to need to beat even Fast 7 by 30%+ to have a chance.

Yeah the OS numbers are good just not record breaking like domestic numbers, its still doing great everywhere and I highly doubt its just exchange rate that's unfavorable. It will get to $1b OS for sure though I get a feeling if it does "only" $250m in China its domestic gross might be more than OS.

it's going to beat Furious 7 damn it. F7 only made 1.16 billion internationally. TFA can and will get 1.2b. it's going to end up the #2 biggest movie WW.

Seems like France is the first country, where SW7 (6.8m admissions) is the biggest movie of the year. It took two weeks to pass MINIONS (6.4m)

1.5bln from Domestic+China will be quite a feat. And it would still need more more than a billion to touch Avatar. Crazy.
