James Cameron’s creative input
Linda Hamilton
Arnold
Epic (trailer) soundtrack

Sold! Would be surprised if this isn’t the best one since T2

How did Cameron's creative input help Alita. It was critical disappointment and commercially will need post theatrical revenue to break even. Genisys missed 90m domestic and so there is little demand for the franchise.

Yeah and let's not forget that Cameron also put his stamp of approval on Genisys and that turned out to be dog shit.

Underwhelming to say the least. Domestically $75-$105m total seems about right.

Alita actually had decent word of mouth though.

Terminator has far broader brand recognition. Combined with (presumably) better buzz than the previous three, it could at least make Terminator: Salvation numbers ($125m domestic)

Also, yes, while Genisys grossed $90m domestic, it did make $350m OS = $440m WW

Semi off-topic, but whatever happened to Jonathan Mostow?

I just found out today, that this scene was cut from T3?!? (I'm a T3 apologist and would have loved the film even more with this)

Reviews are better than Genisys and Salvation, but should still end up Rotten overall.

Post Re: New Terminator Sequel - Predictions
Apparently James Cameron is in discussions about rebooting the Terminator franchise though it hasn't been finalized. Variety and other publications mentioned it earlier today from a podcast mention. It will have more of an AI focus than robots.

Maybe he sees Avatar is looking more likely as a 3-4 film project rather than his full vision and sees a return to Terminator as helping to cement his legacy. He can't do much more for Titanic and maybe overextended his time commitment on Avatar but his Terminator impact with T1/T2 feel muddled by the recent sequels.

TGM also showed a demand there for balancing human / tech he may have gotten inspiration from too.

I don't think Cameron's legacy needs any more cement. It's firm and set in stone.

I'd rather they just leave the franchise dormant. T2 will never be topped.

We need Cameron Terminator 3 picking up where T2 left off

And Cameron Alien 3 picking up where Aliens left off

Didn't I read this exact same article five years ago with Dark Fate?

Sigourney Weaver is 73 but she looks younger. An Alien 3 movie that deletes the actual Alien 3 from existence, and also starring a grown-up Newt, directed by Cameron, could be huge. The problem with Dark Fate was that James Cameron wasn't the director.

Terminator franchise needs to die unless they do Terminator vs Transformers. I agree Alien JLC Halloween type reboot with Weaver would be more exciting.
