Lord and Miller aren't quite draw directors, but the success of the first Cloudy movie, the Jump Street movies, and Lego Movie all show that they know how to appeal to a wide, mass audience (as well as critics!). So, this could be massive. |

Def. more than the one about "plans to steal the Death Star designs" or whatever. Solo is easily the most popular character in the SW universe after Anikan/Vader. ZAC EFRON is HAN SOLO = 110M+ ow IMO. |

Are people ready to accept a Ford-less Han Solo? Let's look at other examples: Terminator Salvation didn't feature Arnold and it did fairly well, but it is the least liked film of the franchise. The Damon-less The Bourne Legacy also did kind of okay, but has just been forgotten, so it wasn't liked very much. I think we can already see a trend. It will do well because of Disney pushing the hell out of a Star Wars film, but it will most likely been seen as a shameless cash-grab and therefore be hated by Star Wars fans, which will in-turn affect its box office slightly. It'll do "big film numbers" (maybe $100m domestically) but it won't do "Star Wars numbers" ($200m+). |

Too early but I believe this could do good but it will all depend on how much the brand gets diluted by then. |

Do you ever make any predictions, Jack? You're always saying how it will depend on this or depend on that. But isn't that the point of a prediction...you know, to incorporate those factors into your analysis and turn that into your opinion of what will happen. I mean, you can check BOM's release schedule to see the Star Wars movies coming out before 2018, so you could make a prediction on just how diluted you think it will be by the time Han Solo opens. I know it's safe to just say that it depends on x and y, but it's wholly pointless. It doesn't make you look like a seasoned pro. It makes you look like you know absolutely nothing because all you ever have are "it could do this, or it could do that" statements. The only time I ever see you make predictions or statements is after loads of other people have already done so. |

This needs Ford in it to some capacity, but if it's some kind of origin story with a younger Solo than it might have trouble breaking $200M. Like most have said it depends on how diluted the brand becomes by then, especially the reception to the other spin-offs. The Star Wars name should help it have a solid opening, but it's hard to say where it will go from there. |
