Which big markets are left for Minions and IO?

Minions has Japan and Italy left while IO has Germany, China, and UK left.

Inside Out is already out in Japan (#3 debut this weekend).

Damn! I thought IO will atleast have the legs to come close to Minions OS total...doesn't look like it....ugh.

It still has a lot more countries to open in if I'm not mistaken.

IO has many markets left but they are not big markets. I just don't see those small markets making up for such huge difference.

I agree those some of those markets left are small. However, UK is a big market.

Look at their OS totals....$409m vs $184m. I believe both haven't been released in China. So that's Japan and Italy for Minions and Germany and UK for IO. Minions won't do much in Japan I guess $5m would be great, IO will do a max of $40m there and that is also not likely. Italy should be pretty big market for Minions which should be close to IO's Germany total. That leaves us UK and I don't see IO doing more than $60m there. With rest of the small markets I'd say IO will do another $50m (which is still HUGE) still the difference would be more than $100m IMO which isn't what you call "close".

Minions have now more than double in OS markets for now. I believe Minions can still do $700m OS and $1b WW but that would depend on how big is Italy and specially China where the first one was released just a couple of months ago.

IO should finish with a good $400m OS total and $750m WW total.

Minions now have some small markets and China. It should definitely come close to $700m OS total.

IO should be close to $450m OS total by the end of its run.

That's ridiculous.
It's at $567m after a 39m weekend and it's just opened in Japan, where it'll likely have a multiplier of 6/8+. It's likely to come close to 700m OS from holdovers alone. Then it has Italy and a few other markets, and China is locked for 100m and likely to give it 150m or more. Minions has a projected wide range of 850-950m.

Inside Out is actually doing pretty damn well too. China is kind of a wild card for it, it has a good shot at $500 million overseas (assuming that it will do much better in Germany than the recent Pixar films thanks to the fall release).

I somehow thought that it opened in Italy this weekend

Is China locked for $100m for Minions? I thought DM2 being released this soon will limit its potential, I was thinking $60m. I think Japan will do another $30m with max of $35m.

I still don't see how with $39m weekend, $35m Japan, China and Italy alone it makes $950m OS (that's almost 40% more than rest of the OS markets)

Minions is making $100+ million in China.

4x multiplier off a 39m weekend = 117m more; add 20m to that because of Japan failing to smell the crap. That's 704m.

Other markets: 20/25m from Italy, possibly 30/35m from the rest (no idea what's left honestly). 760m total.

China is 99.99% locked to do 100m (the market has grown its potential in the last couple of years, and DM2 made more than 50m). 150m is the safest bet, but it can even explode to 200m. That explains the 850-950 range.

Hmm I guess you are giving the $850m-$950m based on China then which I just don't see doing HUGE. I hope it doesn't do $100m in China....ugh.

Minions is just doing depressively well here in Holland. It's been doing about twice of what Inside Out's been doing, despite having been out in theatres, and the only animated film it hasn't outgrossed yet is The Lion King. I hope it crashes soon.
