Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (05/05/17) predictions
There are two clubs so far, but no official prediction thread: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=77321viewtopic.php?f=12&t=75298With JURASSIC WORLD doing what it does now, did GOTG2 go from a $300m grosser to a $500m grosser thanks to Chris Pratt?

I'd sign up for $450 million.

155/425 if it is good
135/340 if it sucks or is even mediocre.

No.
Remember Iron Man 2 and Age of Ultron, guys. Following an incredibly well-received film does not guarantee a box office spike for the sequel.

Notice how their most impressive performances (TA, IM, CA2 and GOTG) all had RT scores near 90.

I mean it was. The beginning with his Mother had nothing to do with anything, not even SW himself because he went through no sort of character change.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (05/05/17) predictions
It has to decrease. I'll go for $220m. After all, it's under the control of Marvel, so it will try and contain too many links to other franchises and it will try the same formula as the first without making anything more exciting or larger or more funny.

A bigger decrease than Age of Ultron from The Avengers? That's ridiculous.

I think 125/130 /325 sounds right.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (05/05/17) predictions
It's not decreasing below 300m. It will open bigger - perhaps 150m and finish up in the 350-400m range. Even if it matches the original it would be fine.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (05/05/17) predictions
Did Chris Pratt really help GOTG? I don't think that JW will make it jump so much. It will open big only if the marketing is great. The first one had inspired marketing which was very fresh and different. Its not going to increase huge OW if its just more of the same.
As of now $130m/$350m total.

As of now $130m/$350m total. It's not so much that he was a draw in the first one, as the "Big name in the role that made him famous" factor, like you see with Arnold and Gibson. But I guess we'll see if Marvel is just inherently incompetent/cursed at topping themselves with sequels.
