2 The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared

Are emo bands coming up with movie titles now? I thought A Pigeon Sitting On A Branch Masturbating To The Thought Of It's Own Mental Superiority was rough. Now they're gonna be everywhere?

Awesome. WOM doesn't seem to be all that bad, may have a shot at $140m.

Dude, it is base on a hugely best-selling novel of the same title. The movie is basically Forrest Gump in Swedish.

I thought this was an interesting discussion about the failures of Tomorrowland and Aloha.

Universal's 2015 slate always looked great on paper, but now WB's summer line-up shapes up to be a big surprise with MAD MAX and SAN ANDREAS overperforming...

Neither are crushing it exactly, though.

It's funny, though. I mean we rightfully call those overperformances because we (and I guess the industry) expected less. But when WB greenlit San Andreas I'm sure they did not expect less. They would have not given it a $110 million budget if they had been fine with a $100 million domestic gross or less.

American Sniper crossed $350m

San Andrea's Sunday was about $1 million bigger than it's previewless Friday. Thats a good sign.

Warner Brothers also has some complicated tax write off scheme I'm sure you can find if you look. It made movies like Jupiter Ascending - after Matrix 2 and 3 and Speed Racer - make more sense. There's some weird way they profit short term and long term on most of their tent pole movies.

If WB really expected it to be a HUGE hit, they prob. would have given it more than just 110m. Probably figured it was an easy world wide break even at worst.

I must say San Andreas looks boring so it pretty much has to do with Rock's name that was a draw like Will Smith to his shitty movies. The Rock is definately getting a pay hike.
