So SW7 opens in the same spot as AVATAR six years ago.

Avatar had a $77m opening weekend and a $137m opening week

followed by a $75m second weekend and a $146m second week (still the record*)

What can we expect from SW7's 2nd week?


*in the meantime broken by JW with $149.6m

This will be frontloaded. I don't expect it to drop like a rock but its midnights will be really big so I don't expect it to get more than say $120m

These type of threads are ridiculous. They're extremely dependent upon the films quality. That said, it will be much more front loaded than Avatard proved to be.

Its weekend will definitely be bigger than Avatar but I don't see it getting its weekdays so this will be close but I think it will fall a few million short of the record. $140m-$142m.

I'm not, actually. My prediction is right in line with Excel's. But even if it breaks $240m opening weekend, it isn't dropping down to $72m for its second full week. That's asinine.

This film has the second most fanboy hype of all time. Do you think it has less opening weekend rush than AOU? JW is a much less fanboy fueled property.

However the only issue is the 2nd weekend is not a typical weekend, its one of the must lucrative weekends of the entire year.

I am personally seeing this not setting the opening weekend record and being a bit more backloaded film as its the holidays.
