the final film in the Hobbit and probably the entire Middle Earth Saga will finish with about 255m. The lowest grossing of the three movies.

I vote for average. The fact it couldn't even outgross DOS despite the heavy pushing in the marketing of this being the final movie of potentially the entire Middle Earth saga is just somewhat disappointing.

It planted its roots in a small, quaint town halfway between the municipalities of good and average.

I would say close to good. It should've done more than Smaug but this trilogy felt like a non-event.

Disappointing. After its opening, it should have at least bounced back from Smaug.

Yeah average. It should have topped Smaug by a good 20m or so but just fell short of that films total. The positive is that it didnt drop to sub 230m like some were predicting.

This is the only Middle Earth film of all six that I didn't get to see in a theatre. It just didn't excite me after hearing comments and reviews. It really shits me that I missed it.

Average instead of disappointing because when you watch the film, it's pretty crappy and it's no wonder it petered out and couldn't beat Smaug or rise to Unexpected.

Hehe, you have a point. But surely the finale factor should have countered what a bad film it was, no? So, still, consider me disappointed.

Same here - I just couldn't muster any excitement to commit theater time to it, but now I kinda regret it.

It did good. The fact that $250million worth of people still pay to see this shit in the theaters is impressive.

I also don't know why this lost theaters at a more rapid rate than Night at the Museum 3

Disappointing.

But the film was a bit disappointing to me as well and I loved the first two films. Surprised it didn't do 275 or 300 but it's closing on 1 bil so there is a silver lining.

me too, I liked the first two but was somewhat disappointed by the third. I think the third movie got average WOM even from people who liked the first two

Yes. I thought the third movie was utterly disappointing. The first two were terrific. I don't know why the ball was dropped with the finale.

I like TBOTFA more than An Unexpected Journey

I recently saw the third film and liked it. I'd rank it second in the Hobbit trilogy after AUJ. Not a big fan of Smaug.

I'd call its performance predictable. Did what I was expecting. So good I'd guess

Yeah, forget what all the previous films did, it did what we thought it would do so that means it did well. lol

Disappointing. Both financially and being the finale it didn't actually completely connect to LOTR, when you watch Hobbit trilogy you cannot directly jump to LOTR as the natural sequel. I know it was the script problem but then they shouldn't have made three movies out of it in the first place.

Overall the trilogy disappointed when compared financially & quality to the LOTR.
When compared to other franchise it did good.

after how another finale Mockingjay Part 2 is doing this year I think it actually could have been worse. Still think it could have done better as well. Just saw the extended version. Much more satisfying. Has plenty of moments that audiences likely would have cheered and laughed at, should have been the theatrical cut.
